We’ve fitted most of the parts from the APR Stage 3 kit over the weekend. Our technician was ambitious enough to come in after hours to continue the build and we were ahead of schedule.
We hit a snag on Monday however when we found that a replacement for a missing part from the kit went missing on its way to us from Alabama.
This has unfortunately halted the completion of this project but we have been over-nighted a second replacement part from APR which arrived early this morning. We anticipate to continue and wrap-up this install tonight or early tomorrow once the ECU gets flashed. Almost done, Scott!!
Scott dropped off his Candy White Mk5 GTI with us yesterday. He will be the first of many Mk5 customers to receive the APR Stage 3 treatment from Achtuning.
The award winning APR 2.0T FSI Stage III delivers a powerful, refined, turnkey solution from the expertly re-calibrated engine management system to the investment cast inconel exhaust manifold and upgraded FSI fuel injectors and fuel pump. Featuring the APR/Garrett Honeywell Ballistic Series GT2871APR Ball Bearing Turbocharger, the APR Stage III brings your MkV to 382 daily drivable horsepower and 332 pound feet of neck snapping torque.
We laid out Scott’s parts for him as this will be the last time we expect him to see these individual components in their virgin form.
So we’ve begun installation, and plan to have things wrapped up within the next few days. Here are some current progress pictures of the installation. New injectors are already in, along with the high pressure FSI fuel pump. The stock high pressure pump is incapable of pumping a high enough volume of fuel to support the FSI engine with even moderate mods, much less a large turbo kit. To rectify this, APR has developed a higher flowing fuel pump that eliminates this being a problem.
We’ve already begun the intercooler portion of the install as well and we’ll update you with more progress as we get the opportunity. Scott, we have definitely passed the point of no return.
He bought the wheels last week, but with tires still enroute from Tire Rack, Tim Mills had to wait before he could actually have the Hartmann Mesh 305 wheels he purchased mounted to his Mk5 GTI.
We think the Mesh 305 is a great wheel for the Mk5, and Tim’s car confirms the 305s have found another good home.
Congratulations on your new wheels, Tim! We trust you will enjoy them.
