Scott met Andrew and Leo here at the shop while the two were here to receive StopTech’s brake-line upgrade and fluid flush prior to the weekend’s QuattroFest event. Not uncommon at all to have a line-up of B8 S4s here and it’s always a pleasure to see! We hear the guys are coming back eventually for a StopTech BBK and APR ECU upgrade in the future, since it was apparent how much of a difference those upgrades made on Scott’s car while tackling Portland International Raceway. We will be here when they are ready.

StopTech’s 328x28mm, 4-piston big brake kit wraps up the laundry list of parts Tim has asked us to install on his brand-new VW (Mk6) GTI. This all after an APR K04 turbo upgrade, turbo-back exhaust, intercooler, H&R Sport Springs, and 19″ Hartmann HRS4-252 Wheels ended up on the car. Now Tim just needs to get himself home safe and sound after serving in our Armed Forces so he can enjoy the fruits of his labor!

As the winner of the free StopTech Sport Brake Upgrade from the 2011 Port Townsend Cruise Raffle, Neal was excited to bring us his Audi (B8) S4 today for a brake upgrade. And since he actually had “bigger” plans in mind for the S4, we worked out a deal with Neal and got him into StopTech’s ST-60, 355mm Big Brake Kit instead!

A significant weight savings is noticed right off the bat, with almost 10 lbs. shaved off each corner when upgrading with StopTech’s BBK. The factory rotors alone weigh 5 lbs. more than the StopTech rotors!

Side-by-side, not only is the size difference obvious, but the aesthetic upgrade with the StopTech caliper is immediately noticed… These calipers are HOT!!

Larger rotors on the BBK increase heat capacity, better brake cooling dissipates absorbed heat, and stiffer calipers and stainless-steel lines improve response and modulation to offer the Audi S4 the best in over all balanced braking performance! We are more than confident Neal will be absolutely impressed and immensely satisfied with his brake upgrade.

StopTech has announced the release of their ST-40 (4-piston) and ST-60 (6-piston) Big Brake Kits for the B8 chassis Audi cars, the 2009+ Audi A4 and A5.

The 332x32mm, 4-piston kits start at $2195 with red, black, or silver calipers and slotted rotors while the 355x32mm, 6-piston kits start at $3195 with the same options. StopTech has also announced the availability of their OE-sized brake products including rotors, pads, and stainless-steel braided brake lines for the B8 cars.

A while back we sold a set of StopTech Big Brakes to Lucasz, a Mk5 Jetta TDI owner who lives north of our border. He posted up the post-install pictures and we had to share them, especially considering the quality of his photos and how well the car has come along…

The StopTech Big Brake Kit consists of 328x28mm slotted two-piece rotors, stainless-steel braided brake lines, ceramic brake pads, and those gorgeous 4-piston calipers powder-coated silver to match the theme of Lucasz’ Jetta.

Chris sent us photos of his VW Mk4 GTI which recently received a StopTech Big Brake Kit. The brake upgrade Chris chose includes a 4-piston caliper, 328x28mm slotted rotors, stainless-steel lines, and Axxis Ultimate ceramic brake pads.

The BBS CH wheels barely wrap around the larger brake calipers but they look fantastic!

Chris is a member of the Armed Forces and every now and then indulges on performance parts for his VW, even while he’s stationed over-seas. We are grateful for his continued support!

Ken is a longtime Achtuning customer who was looking for a more performance minded wheel and suspension setup for his beautiful Imola yellow B5 S4. After much deliberation the Hartmann B7 HRS4 – 252 wheels were chosen for their light weight and ability to clear his massive StopTech Big Brake Kit.

Ken chose the STaSIS Streetsport coilover suspension to keep the tires planted on the road while still giving a comfortable ride quality.

This combination gave Ken a reduction in unsprung weight as well as a more controlled ride than his previous setup which he had grown out of with the other mods he had done to the car.
