225hp Mk1 Audi TT gets some APR and Stasis lovin’

Written by dion on June 3, 2009 – 12:59 pm -

John’s Audi TT received a good deal of upgrades courtesy of an APR 3″ turbo-back exhaust and Stasis Streetsport suspension.

The turbo-back exhaust is a completely stainless-steel, mandrel-bent system that looks stunning beneath John’s car. At idle it has a nice low tone, deeper than stock. Once you hit the throttle though the car really makes its presence known.

Teaching an old dog some new tricks

Written by dion on May 19, 2009 – 2:17 pm -

Flynn had one goal in mind for his 1997 Audi A4 1.8T, and that was to give it a performance make-over that would put this earlier-modeled B5 A4 among the rest of the “Achtuned” B5 A4s out there.

An APR ECU upgrade , a Techtonics Tuning turbo-back exhaust, and a Stasis Streetsport Suspension were all ingredients for Flynn’s plans to revive his A4 into a car he’d enjoy driving even more on a daily basis. The ECU had to be sent directly to APR for the upgrade so while the car was here waiting for the return of it’s new brain we decided to tackle the other performance upgrades.

“B” is for Baller-icious!

Written by dion on April 28, 2009 – 10:15 am -

When Rob picked up his TDI Jetta he came to me with a plan that was set in motion long before he even took delivery of the car. Taking me aside once and showing me a picture of a particular Jetta in Europe running Bentley wheels he said, “I’m gonna do something like this…” It was a matter of a week or two at most before Rob received a set of OEM Bentley wheels measuring 19×9 with a 41mm offset in chrome.

Chrome is something rarely embraced in the local euro-scene but Rob was prepared to go against the norm and show he wasn’t afraid to run a different look we typically don’t see. While many are quick to ditch the chrome trim around the windows, grill and bumpers Rob saw those as accents to help tie in the chrome wheels he knew he wanted. He picked up a set of chrome mirror caps too. The only other concern we had was fitment.

Special-ordering a set of 215/35-19 Falken FK452s and stretching them on Rob’s 9″ wide wheels was a necessary call since the 19s would already take up a lot of space in the Mk5 fenders. While it’s a sacrifice to some ride comfort Rob reports it has been riding surprisingly well. And I have to admit, the stretch looks fantastic!

Prior to installation, Rob had prepared the Jetta’s fenders and had them rolled so extra clearance would allow the wheel and tire combo to fit. (I hear a local vortex kid is a whiz at fender rolling – contact us if you ever need to get a hold of him.) Once that was done, we had one thing left to do before we could mount the wheels to the car…

Stasis Streetsport Coil-Overs brought the high-flying Jetta TDI back to ground level in order to hug the 19×9 Bentley wheels. Comfort was a huge factor for Rob since this is his daily driver and the reputation of Stasis coil-overs made the choice a no-brainer. We just weren’t sure how low we’d be able to bring down the suspension in order to clear wheels and tires – turns out, we were able to go all the way! The end result is a rather amazing stance for a Mk5 Jetta sitting on 19×9″ wheels – and a TDI at that!

Congrats on the new look Rob! I love it!!

Stasis Streetsport: Choose your stance

Written by dion on April 10, 2009 – 12:56 pm -

Jessica and Mark stopped in to show off the new stance of their A4. Jessica purchased STaSIS Streetsport suspension, then put Mark to work so the car was ready for the 2009 Port Townsend Cruise last month.  It’s looking good, girl!

It’s all about stance with this winterized Audi S5

Written by dion on January 15, 2009 – 11:54 am -

When Ian stopped by last October with his Audi S5, it allowed us to get our first up-close-and-personal look at Audi’s latest V8 coupe.

Ian had us set aside a set of our RS4-styled Hartmann 252s in 18×8 and a 32mm offset so we could eventually wrap some Dunlop M3s around his new winter wheels. Concerned with stance, Ian had H&R DR spacers and a STaSIS Ohlins SL Sport Suspension Kit ordered so we could tackle all tasks at once. Unfortunately, his euro-spec headlight delivery was delayed until just recently and we are now finally getting around to throwing on Ian’s parts for him. After all things were said and done…

The stance couldn’t look any better for a winter set-up. Can’t wait for this thing to come back for the S5-styled 20″ Hartmann 209 Wheels when the weather shapes up!

Hartmann 252B Wheels: $260 ea.

19″, RS6-style Hartmann 204 Wheels

Written by dion on January 6, 2009 – 9:59 am -

The new RS6 sports some fantastic-looking wheels with a unique tri-split spoke design, and we’ve now had a chance to install our similarly designed Hartmann HRS6 – 204 Wheels on both a B6 and B7 Audi A4 – I could not be happier with the results!  At 19×8.5 inches and a 38mm offset, the stance is perfect.  Both cars below have been lowered with STaSIS Streetsport Coil-Overs.

RS6-style Hartmann 204 Wheel:

  • 5×112
  • 19×8.5, 38mm offset – $295 per wheel
