Jason drove down from Vancouver, BC in his B7 Audi S4 on his way to this weekend’s Quattrofest 2008 event in Portland, Oregon. Prior to his track event though, he stopped here at Achtuning to purchase the STaSIS Ohlins SL Sport Suspension and Alcon Monobloc 4 – 355 Big Brake System to improve the handling and braking characteristics of his already well-performing S4 and enhance his track experience.

Stock B7 S4 suspension performs well but as Jason is an avid track enthusiast, the STaSIS Ohlins SL Sport Suspension would offer quicker reaction times and stability when cornering at high speeds, all the while retaining stock-like comfort for daily street driving.

And certainly braking could not be left alone as Jason prefers to wait for the very last possible moment before standing on the brakes and carrying out his high-speed turns on the track. The Alcon 4-piston calipers surrounding 355mm slotted rotors will give him the right amount of balanced braking power and heat dissipation for confident, last-second braking.

Power, Sound, Style, these are all qualities that the B7 S4 promises from the factory but for enthusiasts stock is never quite good enough. To this end the owner of this B7 S4 came to us to improve upon those qualities, having seen the results of some of the other S4s we have modified here it was decided to go for the STaSIS Ohlins SL coilovers accompanied by a Neuspeed rear swaybar, STaSIS catback exhaust and a set of 19″ Work VS-XX 3-piece wheels with some 245-35-19 Bridgestone RE760s.

The STaSIS Ohlins SL coilovers allow the car to be lowered while retaining stock like comfort levels, the handling of the car is much improved over stock. Our customers have frequently told us that the setup is “perfect”.

The STaSIS catback exhaust fits the B7 S4 perfectly and the sound is excellent, a nice deep rumble that brings a smile to the face every time the car is started.

The 19″ Work VS-XX 3-piece wheels feature a staggered lip which allows for plenty of brake clearance up front with an aggressive looking deep dish in the rear. Work wheels are made in Japan and are one of the highest quality wheels available in the world. The 245-35-19 Bridgestone RE-760s should ensure plenty of traction.

Yesterday’s post described the arrival of the newest Ohlin’s SL coil over kit from STaSIS Engineering. Today we had the opportunity to install the kit on Chris’ B7 S4, a certified pre-owned purchase from Barrier Audi. The interesting part though, is that the purchase and installation of this coil over kit was arranged through Barrier Audi. That’s right, the cost of the parts and installation was built into the purchase of this vehicle!!

Chris does not live in Washington so Barrier Audi dropped the car off on Wednesday evening for the installation of the suspension and 19″ B7 HRS4 – 252 wheels the following day. Work was started today at Achtuning, the STaSIS suspension went in smoothly and the car was finished up in about 4 hours.

Chris wanted the car a bit lower than stock but not too low Chris will be flying into Seattle to pick up his S4 and drive it 1,200 miles back to home over the weekend. Thanks Chris, we wish you a safe and enjoyable drive home!

This is the newest suspension kit from STaSIS Engineering, the Ohlins SL coilover kit. Currently offered for the Audi B6 and B7 A4 and S4 the kit is the entry level offering from STaSIS for those vehicles. Priced at almost $1,400 below the STaSIS Motorsport suspension the Ohlins SL kit give much of the same performance without a few of the features found on the Motorsport kit. We’ll be installing this tomorrow on a brand new B7 S4 and that will be a story in itself.
