Careful measuring, LOTS of communication back-and-forth, waiting, more communication, then more waiting… We’re told the process had been painful and lengthy to get corrected specs that would make it work, but in the end it was all worth it as Patty now has the first red/white combo’d MINI Cooper running color-matched BBS RS wheels. You’d really be hard pressed to find a better looking example out there! All that was needed was the finishing touch and we were tasked with the installation of NM Engineering’s RSA Spring Kit, mounting and balancing tires on the new rollers, and installing a set of StopTech Street Performance brake parts to improve braking and minimize brake dust.

NM-Engineering performance products have been popular for our local MINI crowd, and Ernie is no exception with his blacked-out John Cooper Works edition, the first of the 2011 models to hit the state! Ernie’s first suspension modification is the NM 22mm Rear Sway Bar.

Install was a breeze and we anticipate Ernie will be back for a coil-over purchase next!

Joe brought us his MINI Cooper S for a brake upgrade and he selected StopTech’s 328mm, 4-piston big brake kit with yellow calipers.

The installation was a simple bolt-on affair, but caliper clearance would be impossible without the use of H&R wheel spacers. With H&R only offering 5mm and 15mm sizes (the 5s being too thin) and our need for a maximum of 8mm spacers up front before poking the wheels out past the fenders, we had to take matters in our own hands and modify the H&R 15mm spacers. The end result is proper brake clearance with minimum poke and a perfect hub-centric fit with his OZ wheels!
