Less is more!
Written by Dion on June 29, 2010 – 12:33 pm -To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Porsche Club of America in 2006, Porsche built 50 911 Carrera S “Club Coupes” that would be available for sale only to club members. 1 example sits in the Porsche museum in Stuttgart and of the 49 examples spread throughout North America, two are owned by local WA residents – not surprised! All 50 examples received the same gorgeous and unique color of Azurro California Blue Metallic, a 3.8L X51 engine pushing 381 hp, a sport-tuned exhaust system, and a carbon fiber air intake system to name a few key elements that separate these cars from your standard Carrera S. The only thing it lacked was a set of H&R spacers!!

Taking into consideration the amount of suspension travel the car will still have at its current ride height, and using a simple technique to measure wheel spacing thanks to H&R, it was determined that of the sizes available from H&R, the 7mm spacers out back would even out the front-to-rear stance difference the car came with from the factory. Less is indeed more, as the very subtle wider track on this Porsche has it sitting proper!

H&R to the rescue!
Written by Dion on June 16, 2010 – 1:45 pm -Thanks to H&R and the recent launch of their www.trakplus.com website, we now have a very resourceful and straight-forward tool to assist us in determining which spacer application to run on your car. While we’d like to think we know everything there is to know about wheel-spacing, the fact is, “going wide” is not an exact science. Also, “stance” is purely subjective. One person’s view of “properly stanced” may likely differ from the next. And unless you are local and can stop by, several variations such as vehicle ride height and/or tire size makes it difficult for us to tell you with absolute certainty whether or not “x”-size spacer is appropriate for your car. We can give you an idea, but ultimately it is up to you to decide where within your fenders you want those wheels to sit…

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
Written by Dion on April 21, 2010 – 11:47 am -When Peter saw a certain local bagged Audi A6 he knew exactly what he wanted and what direction he was going to go to get there. But he didn’t necessarily want to drop the coin on a button-pressing, height-adjustable air-ride kit, either. Instead, the call came to us which resulted in the purchase of H&R’s Street Performance Coil-Over kit for the C6 A6.

End result…

Hey Mike, time for new wheels.

All Smiles
Written by Dion on April 15, 2010 – 10:42 am -Seeing the grin on Chris’ face when pulling up his Audi S5 after he had left it with us was satisfying. But probably not as satisfying as the slight rumble Chris heard emit from the Stasis Cat-Back exhaust we had just installed.

It wasn’t just the sound that brought a smile to Chris’ face either, but also the fact that we rolled it out with a new stance ala H&R wheel spacers. 15mm front and 20mm rear spacers brought the factory S5 wheels closer to the fender’s edge and gave the car that “bulldog” stance we like to see.

And while we couldn’t see it, we imagine the grin on Chris’ face was turned into a giddy laugh when he stepped on it getting out of here… The combination of the APR ECU software upgrade for the FSI V8 and the cat-back must have made a lasting impression! Now if we can just convince him to bring the car down to the ground a bit…

H&R coilover pricing still the very best here at Achtuning!
Written by Dion on November 17, 2009 – 3:17 pm -
Dan felt his Audi A6 sat too high. Even compared to the S-Line suspension packages on the dealer lot, he felt his A6 could stand to sit a touch lower. A call to Achtuning meant a purchase of H&R Streetsport Coil-overs. As one of the very affordable, entry-level coil-over kits for the C6 A6 on the market, H&R’s system offers a range of 1.2 to 2.2 inches and allows the A6 to stay firmly planted on all 4-corners, improving over-all handling.

H&R coil-over kits are very competitively priced in our online catalog. Check and see the incredible pricing we have to offer while shopping coil-overs for your car!

To gain that aesthetic edge…
Written by Dion on September 9, 2009 – 1:42 pm -… Chris brought back his e92 M3 to us to pick up a set of H&R spacers. After doing a bit of homework, he learned that this particular combination of H&R springs and factory18″ wheels and tires would allow at most a 12mm spacer both front and rear without having clearance issues.

Lookin’ sharp, Chris!

What I really wanted
Written by Skyler on September 4, 2009 – 12:57 pm -Kristian Decided that 19″ Hartmann HR8 MS wheels were the wheels he really wanted to complete the look on his A3. After saving his pennies he picked a set up and paired them with a set of 235-35-19 Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tires.

After getting the HR8 MS wheels installed on his H&R coilover equipped A3 Kristian suspected that the ride quality may be reduced but found just the opposite “To my surprise the ride quality actually is BETTER than the Pirelli p6s even though I stepped up 2″ in wheel size. The ride is smoother, quieter, and has a LOT more grip.”

Thanks Kristian!

It’s the little things that can make a big difference…
Written by Dion on September 2, 2009 – 8:09 am -Brian has no interest in lowering his S-Line B8 A4 avant, and at its current ride height I don’t blame him. Used as a daily driver to haul around family or business associates, and already sitting on the S-Line’s 19×8.5″ wheels styled after the new RS6 wheel and Audi’s “sport suspension”, all he really needed was a bit of help from H&R with some 5mm spacers out back to make just the slightest bit of difference in over-all stance and appearance.

The H&R’s 5mm spacer is not hubcentric, meaning it doesn’t come with a lip for the wheel to evenly balance on, but then the hub’s lip is slightly thicker than the spacer so there is some room to center the wheel evenly on the Audi’s wheel hub lip.

To pep the car up a bit, Brian had us load APR’s ECU Upgrade, and just in time to take advantage of APR’s sale pricing where various octane-level programming options are installed for the price of a single-program burn! APR software is the best power per dollar modification for the new 2.0 TFSI Valve Lift and gives it just the extra edge these cars lack from the factory without pushing the limits.

All-in-all, not much more has to be done to improve on this S-Line A4. Interior fit and finish is superb as always with the combination of brushed aluminum and alcantara suede.

What more could you ask for? Surely we can come up with something…

Yes, we can make Audi Q7 wheels fit your Passat CC…
Written by Dion on August 31, 2009 – 2:45 pm -After a quick visit through our showroom and seeing pictures of a bagged Passat CC running a 20″ version of the Hartmann 446 Wheels in Europe, Brad selected our 19″ Hartmann 446 Wheels for his own.

The Hartmann 446 Wheels replicate a style found on an Audi Q7 and is a 5×130 bolt pattern so H&R 5×112 to 5×130 adapters were needed to make this particular package work. 245/35-19 Falken FK452s wrap the tires. The combination of Porsche’s high offset and H&R’s 20mm adapters made the fit just right for this CC!
