Snow season is not far off and it’s time to change those 19s out to some dedicated winter tires to ensure you have traction when you need it most. Konrad brought in his B6 S4 to change from his 19″ Forged Hartmann DTM-7s to a set of 17″ Hartmann HRS6-172HCs with Dunlop snow tires.
The 19″ DTM-7s look great on Konrads Grey S4, the Bridgestone RE-750s are a decent tire for rain use but not recommended for snow which we do get a bit of around here.

The Hartmann Forged wheels have been very popular on the B6 and B7 S4s due to their combination of light weight and high strength.

The aggressive ET32 offset of the forged wheels pushes the face of the wheel right to the edge of the fender without rubbing.

Konrad has the smaller A4 sport style centercaps, the Hartmann forged wheels will accept a variety of OEM Audi centercaps.

These were finished in a custom Porsche grey finish, Hartmann offers the wheels in either a polished or flat black powdercoated finish.

Konrad took advantage of our Achtoberfest sale to save a bit on the 172-HC wheels. He ordered in the Dunlop snow tires through our link to Tire Rack for free mounting and balancing and since he’s local he saved on sales tax on the tires as well. The same centercap and lug caps that were used on the forged wheels were transferred over to the 172-HCs and he was all set!

The Hartmann HRS6 – 172HC is available in 17″ and 18″, the 17×8.0″ ET35 version was chosen for winter usage.

The “HC” of the 172HC stands for “High Clearance” as Hartmann designed these wheels to be able to fit Audis with large brakes which other wheels may not fit.

The 172-HC can use an OEM Audi centercap which we have available for $60-set, a nice savings from dealer costs.

The last container from Italy brought us the Hartmann HS5 – 209 Wheel in 19×8.5 and a 38mm offset – this allows us to fit the wheel on vehicles like the Audi B5, B6, and B7 A4s and S4s, C5 A6s, VW B5 Passats, and a few others…

The Audi B7 A4 below was brought to us for a STaSIS Streetsport Suspension upgrade and Jake had waited for the container’s arrival so he could be the first to have the Hartmann HS5 wheels on his A4. We couldn’t be happier with the results!!

With the Fall Season starting here in the Pacific Northwest, this Audi S8 was brought in this morning after Blizzak tires were delivered the other day from Tire Rack. This customer is thinking ahead and getting prepared for winter driving conditions.

In order to keep the over-all look of the car the same with the factory Audi S8 wheel, 19″ Hartmann HS8-454 wheels had been selected to replace the stock 20″ version during the winter season and it was clear the similarity in wheel style would suit our customer.

And finally with the wheels on, it was almost as if we never even touched the car…

And in an attempt to get a little more acquainted with the D3 S8, some pictures of the different eye-catching features…

Could it get much better?

The “Turbine” style wheel on Steven’s D3 A8 was never a favorite of his. Fortunately we had the Hartmann QS 10 wheel as an alternative. The Hartmann QS 10 is a style taken from one of the Audi Q7 wheels and mimics the split-spoke design of the B7 RS4 wheel, but with 3 additional spokes. The stance on this A8 never changed since the Hartmann QS 10 wheel is available in the same 20×9 size the “Turbine” wheel is, which made the decision that much easier for Steven.

Tires were supplied and we had TPM sensors that had to be removed from the original set-up and transferred over to the new wheels. This swap is fairly simple however in this particular case, new TPM sensor valve stems had to be supplied since the old ones had been seized – thankfully we stock the necessary hardware to make things work. Before long, sensors were swapped over and this D3 A8 was sitting pretty with the new wheels… an even more elegant look then what the “Turbines” offer!

A “Hello” from Bill while he’s attending the Automechanika Auto Show in Frankfurt, Germany. He has been sending us pictures of some of the things that have caught his eye and we’re happy to share them with you.

Some pretty cool stuff! Very happy to see a couple of different VW Scirocco color options. The Audi Q5 and A3 Cabrio are good-lookers and that DTM B8 Audi A4 is just ridiculous! Bill has also stopped by the Oettinger Headquarters to capture pictures of several of their project cars and latest offerings.

As we see more pictures get added to Bill’s gallery, we’ll be happy to share them here with you.

Last Friday I mentioned we got another sneak-peak at the B8 A5. This silver S-Line was brought to us by a potential customer who was kind enough to let us take a brake template from his car so we can get a good idea of the types of wheels we’ll have available for this car.

Of course we had to take as many pictures as we could to “soak-in” the beauty that is the B8 A5…

The 66.6mm center bore and high offset specs on the B8 A5s make it difficult for the majority of our current line-up to fit so we’re working on bringing in some new wheels…

We then took the new Hartmann HS5-209 wheel in 19×8.5 (et25) and threw on a set for comparison. The factory wheel is the same diameter and width but 7mm further in so you can see how a 7mm difference in offset gives the car just that slight “edge” and makes for a bit of an aggressive look.

The car will be back to have H&R coil-overs installed soon so you can expect updated pictures then.

We were visited by three Pacific Northwest (vwvortex forum) members yesterday… They were here to pick up new sets of 19s for their Audis.

First, we have Mike and his beautiful wife Charlotte’s C5 A6 2.7T… Lowered on KW suspension, this car hugs the 19″ Hartmann G5 wheels so tightly, the tie rods are about to pop!

I hear Mike plans to bring the fronts down even more!!

Then we’ve got “Gaki”. Originally planning to go with a set of clearanced TSW wheels, he talked himself into our Hartmann line with the HR8 wheels in 19×8.5 and a 38mm offset. Lowered on STaSIS Streetsport Coil-Overs, the stance on this B7 A4 with the Hartmann HR8 wheels is just stunning. Good choice, Anthony.

Josh met us at the Waterwerks show recently where he had a chance to talk to us in person about his plans for his Jetta GLI. After looking over the wheel choices we had available it was decided to go with the Hartmann B7 HRS4 – 252s and a STaSIS coilover kit. The 19 inch Hartmann B7 HRS4 – 252s were an interesting choice as it was the first time we had gone with such an aggressive fitment on a MkV, normally we would do an ET48 offset on an 8.5″ wide wheel for a MKV fitment however this setup is an ET42 which pushes the wheel out by another 6mm!
