APR Presents: APR 2.0T FSI S3/Golf-R K04 Turbocharger System!
Written by Dion on May 26, 2011 – 11:11 am -
APR’s Engineering Teams have revisited and revised the current 2.0T FSI S3/ED30 K04 Conversion Package to deliver a state of the art system similar to their current 2.0 TSI K04 Turbocharger offering. This results in a more compact and simple solution reducing install times and significantly reducing the price of the turbocharger system!
Direct Compressor Cover DV Recirculation

APR was able to significantly reduce the cost of the current turbocharger system by offering some additions not found anywhere else in the industry. Firstly the APR FSI K04 Turbocharger unit’s compressor cover is CNC Machined to relocate the OEM DV onto the turbocharger unit itself to eliminate the need for extra components. This solves several issues:
- You can use any throttle body pipe you would like. No need to run a GTI Y throttle body pipe.
- You do not need to purchase OEM or aftermarket recirculation hoses.
- You do not need to use the OEM recirculating turbo inlet hose.
- You do not need an intake with a recirculation bung.
- You do not need to extend the OEM DV harness.
Turbo Muffler Delete

Secondly, APR tackled the OEM turbo sound suppressor muffler and turbo outlet pipe. On the OEM K04 turbocharger, a turbo muffler is introduced to reduce some sound from the turbocharger unit. This muffler unit reduces the smooth turbo outlet airflow and is often blocked off by purchasing extra hardware. By removing this part and manufacturing our own turbo outlet flange and hose we solved the following issues:
- Turbo muffler removed enhancing turbocharger sound.
- Turbo muffler removed smoothing turbo outlet airflow.
- APR Multi-Ply silicon hose included which removes the need to purchase an
aftermarket or S3 turbo discharger pipe.
The New 2.0T FSI K04 Turbocharger system is now sold in several configurations:
APR went a step further and designed several packages aimed towards all customers no matter what their situation may be!
T2100011 – $2,149 – K04 Turbocharger System
For the first time ever APR is offering the FSI K04 turbocharger system as a bare bones kit. All hardware, gaskets, and hoses are included with the exception of the S3 injectors, S3 injector install kit and APR HPFP. Also, APR Software is not included in this package. APR Software requires S3 Injectors and an APR HPFP however this system is available for customers who would like to take matters into their own hands.
Please note K04′s are not designed to work with stock, stage 1, 2 or 2+ oem K03 software. K04 Software is required for correct operation.
T2100012 – $2,649 – K04 Turbocharger System w/ APR Software
This bare bones system is the same as above however it includes APR software at a discounted
price. APR requires S3 injectors and APR HPFP when running this turbocharger system.
T2100013 – $3,299 – K04 Turbocharger System w/ APR Software and Injectors
This system includes everything you need to bolt on and go with the exception of the APR
HPFP which may be purchased separately.
T2100014 – $3,579 – K04 Turbocharger System w/ APR Software and APR HPFP
This system includes everything you need to bolt on and go with the exception of S3 injectors
which may be purchased separately.
T2100015 – $4,249 – K04 Turbocharger System w/ APR Software, Injectors and APR HPFP
This kit includes everything you need to bolt on and go!
Please note, a high flow downpipe is required with APR K04 Software. We also highly recommend running an APR Full Turboback Exhaust, APR Intake and especially an APR Intercooler System.

With all this “winter-prep” going on around us…
Written by Dion on October 22, 2008 – 3:52 pm -… I felt I wanted one last run of summer styling before the incoming cold weather meant it would be best to run an all-season wheel and tire. I took the “winter set-up” BBS RCs off the Golf and mounted these Porsche design Hartmann 367 wheels.
As with most of the Porsche-specific styles offered, the Hartmann 367 is staggered, running 18×8 up front and 18×10 in the rear. Just like our Mk4 Jetta project, H&R DRA Adapters were used to mount the 5×130 Porsche bolt pattern to the 5×100 Volkswagen hub. The Jetta ran 30mm adapters both front and rear but since the front fenders on this Golf are not yet rolled to accommodate a wider stance, I felt it safer to run a set of 20mm adapters I had laying around.
Since the car is lowered with STaSIS Streetsport Coil-Overs, and a 10″ wheel isn’t the customary width to run on the back of a VW Mk4, smaller tires were mounted to ensure fender clearance resulting in a “stretched” look. Now this small of a tire is really pushing the limits and is not recommended for most, but with proper installation and tire pressure monitoring, there will not be any issues whatsoever running this set-up.
