With the acquisition of Startup Racing a few months ago, Achtuning is now a distributor of Vogtland Sport Suspension, specifically the coil-over kits for the VW/Audi models and exclusive distributor of the all-popular Vogtland GT coil-over systems. First to try out the Vogtland GT kit on a VW Mk5 at Achtuning is Jeremiah with his Jetta GLI. Jeremiah recently traded his Stasis Streetsport equipped VW Mk5 GTI in at the dealer as he needed extra trunk space and preferred the Jetta over the 4-door GTI. The first thing he knew he had to do was correct the stance and handling!

The maiden voyage on the Vogtland GT kit was impressive! Keeping all 4-corners nicely planted, this kit reminded us of a Stasis Motorsport kit all while offering Streetsport-like comfort – perfect for Jeremiah’s daily driving needs. End result…

Daniel’s Audi (B6) A4 was in need of some new running gear so it was left with us to receive a set of Hartmann HRS4-DTM Wheels in 19×8, et35. Daniel also knew that throwing 19s wouldn’t be enough to correct the over-all stance and appearance on the car and felt the Stasis Streetsport Coil-Over kit would be the best option for him.

The “Achtuning Signature Ride Height” puts the car just above the top of the tire, and when the suspension settles it should be about the perfect set-up.

John’s Audi TT received a good deal of upgrades courtesy of an APR 3″ turbo-back exhaust and Stasis Streetsport suspension.

The turbo-back exhaust is a completely stainless-steel, mandrel-bent system that looks stunning beneath John’s car. At idle it has a nice low tone, deeper than stock. Once you hit the throttle though the car really makes its presence known.

We got the call from Adrian around 7pm Thursday evening. He mentioned he would be finishing up a military training session at 2am in LA that next morning, then arriving in Seattle early Friday. He asked what we might be able to do for his recently purchased Mk4 GTI. As it turned out, we had plenty readily available for him to get a good jump-start on his modding bug.Adrian ended up spending a big portion of his day with Achtuning as he asked us to transform his VW Mk4 GTI into an even better performing European hot hatch, courtesy of a Stasis Streetsport Coil-Over Kit and APR ECU Upgrade.

To Adrian’s surprise, we found that the GTI he picked up used had already been equipped with APR software, just locked out. We glady unlocked his software for him which opened up the budget for more performance parts. As it turned out, the brakes were also in need of attention and since we had a couple of StopTech’s 328×28mm Big Brake Kits on the shelf, he decided to go for it!

Adrian will have a chance to test out StopTech’s claims of having the best over-all braking distance improvement without the worry of over-working the master cylinder as brake bias is kept balanced with the appropriately sized brake pistons for the Mk4. Having larger, cleaner, and bright red calipers to show off that stopping power is just icing on the cake!

We wrapped up the Stasis Streetsport Coil-Over install on Nathan’s A4 last night. After the springs settle we’ll take a look and see how far the wheels can get pushed out with some H&R spacers as Nathan likes the Titanium Package 18″ wheels that came with the car but wants a more aggressive stance.

Last Friday we threw on the H&R Premium Coil-Over Suspension on each corner of the Achtuning A3 project, bringing the car closer to the ground where it belongs. More importantly of course, we’ll be able to handle local roads and tracks with ease and hug our 19″ Hartmann Forged Split-7 Wheels with the better performing suspension.

We’ve also got a new rear sub frame brace we’re testing out. This triangular piece mounts between the rear control arms with no extra drilling or modification and offers better handling and steering response in cornering. We’ll add a rear anti-roll bar the next chance we get to further eliminate body roll and try to neutralize some of the A3’s under-steer characteristics.

We took her out for a spin and the motor is putting down some good power! Clearly the stock 17s with all-season tires weren’t going to cut it and we immediately noticed severe brake fade after a few hard runs so brakes were definitely going to be the next order of business.

The StopTech 328×28mm, 4-piston Big Brake Kit ended up on the car yesterday and look fantastic with the red and black H&R suspension components!

Brake clearance was tight with the new 4-piston calipers but it was just enough to make things fit the way it needed…

We’re still undecided on the final wheel finish so for now we’ll keep them polished. Front bumper is also back on and a Votex kit might be the next thing added to our Achtuning A3 project.

Keeping with tradition, we of course had another busy Friday today. Almost every US-represented German make showed up for one thing or another…

First we have Definitive Motors bringing by a Mercedes SLK280. The Hartmann 280B Wheel is a replica of a wheel found on an SLK55 and was a great “upgrade” for this car at only $240 a wheel!!

Christian brought us his 2008 Audi A3 tFSI. This black-on-black beauty received STaSIS Streetsport Coil-Overs midly dropping the car and giving it the stance most of enthusiasts are after. Wheels are apparently next on the list although the stock wheels still look good on this application…

APR chipping is almost a daily occurrence at Achtuning…
