Two NEW items from APR!

Audi (B8) A4 & A5 2.0T Carbonio Intake System!
Carbonio’s latest carbon fiber intake for the 2.0 TFSI & 1.8 TFSI engine is a ram air design that completely seperates the intake filter from the engine bay. Building from years of experience on and off the race track, Carbonio’s and APR’s engineering teams have spent countless hours
developing a true cold air and ram air carbon fiber design that can be recreated affordably for the street performance enthusiast.
For many years professional motorsport organizations have suffered great expense to properly tune the air intake delivery system for turbocharged engines for use in endurance and sprint races where every last horsepower and pound feet of torque can make the difference in position when crossing the finish line. Historically these designs have proven to be the most efficient and powerful although the most expensive to produce.
Aftermarket performance companies have attempted to capitalize on these designs however the cost restraints have typically resulted in compromise and deviation from the true engineering principles associated with motorsport accomplishment. Don’t be fooled by catch phrases and tag lines alluding to a new intake technology or special design characteristic. You won’t see any of these gimmicks installed on race cars at the Nurburgring.
Carbonio and APR have gone even further to maintain all oem specifications necessary to integrate cohesively with an otherwise stock engine to avoid raising eyebrows at the dealership. Flexibility was another characteristic of Carbonio’s and APR’s design whereas the new TFSI intake is also suitable for Stage 1 and Stage 2 modified engines all the way up to and beyond APR’s K04 Turbocharger System.
Constructed of aerospace grade carbon fiber and designed to remove intake restriction, APR’s Carbonio intake system provides smoother transitional airflow, increased air velocity, superior insulation of the incoming air to reduce intake air temperatures and a larger volume of available air to aid throttle response and turbocharger spool.
Ram air induction is accomplished by maintaining the oem air inlet opening at the front of the leading hood edge which is the highest pressure area of airflow across the entire vehicle. Placement of the air filter as close to this high pressure zone as possible results in overcoming some of the airflow restriction created by even the highest flow air filters available.

RSC™ incorporates innovative technologies developed in conjunction with NASA. With limited use of packing materials and no baffles, RSC™ allows for a completely straight and free flowing exhaust path through the RSC™ mufflers. Reflective Cancellation bounces the undesirable sound waves into each other to attenuate the wave and completely eliminate the low frequency tones that create drone. Each RSC™ muffler is tuned to eliminate specific, undesirable sound frequencies allowing only the engine’s desirable exhaust notes to be heard and improving performance.


3″ Design with High Flow Catalytic Converters
APR’s 3 inch downpipe with high flow catalyst for the A4 2.0 TFSI is the first true downpipe for the A4 and the only one that incorporates traditional exhaust performance tuning for the new 2.0 TFSI engine. Other 2.0 TFSI engine applications outside of the A4 chassis have historically enjoyed the following benefits that have never before been made available to A4 owners:
-3 inch Exhaust Tubing Diameter beginning at the Turbocharger Exit for Maximum Turbocharger Spool and Peak Horsepower
-Relocation of the Catalyst to Reduce Backpressure and Turbulent Airflow at the Turbocharger

APR is proud to offer the only true 3 inch full length downpipe available for the 2.0 TFSI A4 which delivers true exhaust Performance Without Compromise.
By utilizing a straight though design, APR is able to maximize power gains when coupled with APR’s Stage 2 ECU Upgrade without uncomfortable levels of exhaust drone while cruising.
During our development we discovered the exhaust systems flowed so well modifications to the software were absolutely required when using the new RSC systems. Spool time was significantly decreased and would result in a rather large overshoot of requested load levels which would cause the throttle to close. This can only be eliminated by properly recalibrating the engine software to match the hardware changes and APR’s Stage 2 ECU Upgrade is born.
The benefits of APR’s Stage 2 ECU Upgrade with APR’s RSC Dual Exit Full Exhaust System are as follows:
1. Turbocharger Boost Onset Reduced by Over 400 rpm’s!
2. Peak Torque is Increased by Over 100 lb ft when Compared to Stock Exhaust and Programming and by Over 70 lb ft when Compared to APR’s Stage 1 ECU Upgrade and Stock Exhaust!
3. Peak Horsepower is Increased by Over 50hp when Compared to Stock Exhaust and Programming and by 29hp when Compared to APR’s Stage 1 ECU Upgrade and Stock Exhaust!
We tested both our Dual Exit and Single Exit RSC Exhaust Systems and found the Dual Exit RSC System to deliver slightly more horsepower in the higher rpm’s as expected.

Stage 2 for your B8 Audi A4 will be well worth it!
Written by Dion on June 22, 2010 – 3:26 pm -A recent post made by Arin@APR shows some incredible gains to be had with the B8-chassis Audi A4 when upgrading to “APR Stage 2″ using their new RSC free-flow exhaust system. Still in development, but available to the public VERY soon…
The APR RSC Turboback Exhaust Systems were so free flowing the Engineers were able to make safe calibration changes which resulted in the following:
1. Significantly reduced turbocharger spool time over both stock software and APR stage 1 software.
On the days of testing, stage 1 torque levels at 2400 RPM’s were met and exceded at 2000 RPM’s (400 RPM’s Sooner!) simply by running APR stage 2 software with the RSC Turboback Exhaust System
2. Significantly increased and broadened the torque curve compared to both stock and APR stage 1 software.
-On the days of testing, stage 2 torque levels rose 89 FT-LBS under the curve compared to stock software. Peak torque rose from 267 ft-lbs to 355 ft-lbs, for a 88 FT-LBS peak increase.
-On the days of testing, stage 2 torque levels rose 66 FT-LBS under the curve compared to stage 1 software. Peak torque rose from 334 ft-lbs to 355 ft-lbs, for a 21 FT-LBS peak increase.
3. Significantly increased horsepower, especially the area under the curve compared to both stock and APR stage 1 software.
-On the days of testing, stage 2 torque levels rose 50 HP under the curve compared to stock software. Peak power rose from 212 hp to 248 hp, for a 36 hp peak increase.
-On the days of testing, stage 2 torque levels rose 27 HP under the curve compared to stage 1 software. Peak power rose from 235 hp to 248 hp, for a 13 hp peak increase.
All of our data was collected on back to back runs and are the results of average data. Data was also collected on the same car during several days of testing. Gains between runs were in some cases higher but we have chosen to show you an average of what you’ll expect to see as data can change between runs based on countless variables.
