A bumper, hood fenders, snub mount, and a lightweight pulley

Written by Jonathan on June 6, 2009 – 1:21 pm -

It almost looks like a car again! The new serp tensioner came in, so I put than on and tightened up the serp belt. With the serpentine stuff all done, I proceeded to move over the fans, radiator, etc to the new core support. For those of you replacing radiators in the future, the couplers are just friction fit.

Once I got the core support on, I added/flushed fluids. I added new G12+, Mobil1 5w30, and flushed my P/S fluid.  We test fit the hood and bumper, everything lines up well. It needs some fender adjustment and some more brackets, but it looks damn good! The hood has some poor paint/resin (EuroGear) that will be fixed before paint.

Car should hopefully be done by the end of the month, but of course, this depends on parts and what not.

B6 S4 gets a little wider

Written by Jonathan on June 2, 2009 – 12:02 am -

What can you do in 12 hours? How about swapping 75% of the body panels on a B6 S4? This trip to JMI was quite rewarding as I was able to replace all the doors, remove the front core support, replace both front fenders, gut the interior, and remove the rear bumper.

With the vehicle in service position I thought it would be a good time to do some maintenance and mods. Valve cover gaskets, JHM intake manifold spacers, JHM lightweight crank pulley, JHM heater elbow bypass, and a new water pump and thermostat all ended up in the car.  I’m also relocating the Optima Yellow Top battery to the passenger-side trunk which should help balance out the weight of my sub all-the-while removing weight from the front of the car.

Anyway, here’s the progress so far…not bad for one guy and 17 hours!  (If he must say so himself – Dion)

Widebody B6 S4 Progress

Written by Jonathan on May 26, 2009 – 1:27 am -

Well, this weekend was quite eventful. Jon trekked up to JMI Motoring so he could pull parts off the car. It looks like he’ll be removing both bumpers, the hood, lock carrier, all doors, all fenders, both front and rear glass, and cutting out the rear quarter panels.  This will be an interesting endeavor to say the least!

He spent about five hours at the shop removing as much as he could. Within that time-frame he was able pull most of the front-end off as well as some of the rear. Jon will be back at the shop again soon to pull the rest of the body panels. This also gives Jon an opportunity to replace his serpentine belt and snub mount.

The next time he’s at the shop, he said he’ll likely be able to replace all the doors, front fenders, lock carrier, and rear bumper so progress is certainly coming along!

A B6 S4 to B7 RS4 Widebody Conversion

Written by Jonathan on May 17, 2009 – 1:00 am -

Today marks the beginning of Jon’s new project, the transformation of his 2004 Audi S4. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the B6 S4 will be getting a little refresher.

The plan is to do a complete OEM wide body conversion and transform this B6 S4 into a B7 RS4. This involves replacing exterior panels on the car and then some! He’ll be replacing the Oettinger front bumper with an OEM RS4 bumper which he plans to incorporate the S6 LEDs into the fog light area. This should be an easier task then the installation of the lights in the Oettinger kit since the openings in the bumper are a little wider. Jon will also be replacing the S4 blades with those found on the A4, or even RS4 blades… Jon wants to see how fitment is with the A4 blades first. The Kerscher side skirts will be replaced as well. Once all the exterior work is done, Jon has an RS4 steering wheel and a B7 center console that will need a new home :)

Since Jon’s S4 is a B6, the hood and headlights will also need to replaced; luckily he was able to source a set of complete headlights and a Eurogear CF hood with Aerolatch hood pins already installed from a fellow Audi driver for a GREAT price! Plans will be to color-match these pieces to the body. Stay tuned as we update you with the progress of Jon’s RS4-conversion!

STaSIS Ohlins SL kit and Hartmann B7 RS4 – 252 wheels installed on Audi B7 S4

Written by Skyler on February 28, 2008 – 7:05 pm -

Yesterday’s post described the arrival of the newest Ohlin’s SL coil over kit from STaSIS Engineering. Today we had the opportunity to install the kit on Chris’ B7 S4, a certified pre-owned purchase from Barrier Audi. The interesting part though, is that the purchase and installation of this coil over kit was arranged through Barrier Audi. That’s right, the cost of the parts and installation was built into the purchase of this vehicle!!

Chris does not live in Washington so Barrier Audi dropped the car off on Wednesday evening for the installation of the suspension and 19″ B7 HRS4 – 252 wheels the following day. Work was started today at Achtuning, the STaSIS suspension went in smoothly and the car was finished up in about 4 hours.

Chris wanted the car a bit lower than stock but not too low :) Chris will be flying into Seattle to pick up his S4 and drive it 1,200 miles back to home over the weekend. Thanks Chris, we wish you a safe and enjoyable drive home!

If you’d like to see more details of the Hartmann B7 HRS4 – 252 wheels for the Audi B7 S4 click here to go to the Hartmann B7 HRS4 – 252 page on Achtuning.com

Hartmann B7 RS4 – 252 wheels on a VW MkV R32

Written by Skyler on February 26, 2008 – 3:52 pm -

Dave stopped by yesterday searching for new wheels for his MkV R32, he hadn’t planned on a wheel purchase this soon but a large rock ended up helping his decision, ouch! On the plus side Dave was able to show off his manly tire changing skills to his girlfriend :)

Having no luck finding replacement MkV R32 wheels locally he stopped by our shop and eventually decided to go with the Hartmann B7 HRS4 – 252 wheels in 18″ as he wanted to keep his tires which were still in good condition.

In the end Dave was happy to have the new wheels on the car, the Hartmann wheels were each about half the price of an OEM replacement wheel from VW plus he saved over 11 lbs. by going with the RS4 reps!

RS4 style Hartmann 252Bs on an Audi A3

Written by Skyler on February 14, 2008 – 5:48 pm -

Nash really wanted to do a STaSIS BBK on his Audi A3 2.0T, unfortunately finding a wheel that clears a big brake kit in the high offset to fit the A3 was going to necessitate using custom 3 piece Work wheels which were a bit out of the budget at the moment.

In the end he decided to leave the brakes alone and go with 18″ B7 RS4-styled Hartmann 252 wheels with some Bridgestone Potenza S-02 tires. The ET 47 wheels were chosen to avoid rubbing and a 5mm H&R spacer was used in the rear to even the look out with the fronts.

Check these wheels out in our store: Audi A3 Wheels – B7 HRS4 – 252
