When Audi brought us the 2009 (B8) Audi A4, they left us a little surprise.  Rather than having the usual 57.1mm center bore we were accustomed to, the new Audi wheel hub required a wheel with a 66.6mm center bore - a size we normally see on Mercedes Benz wheels!  We’re not quite sure what brought the change, nevertheless we had to make some adjustments in the Hartmann Wheel line-up to make sure enough wheel options were going to be available for our new Audi customers.

Fortunately we already had a selection of Mercedes-fitment wheels in our inventory and considering MB shares the same bolt pattern with Audi, we were relieved to have immediate access to wheels for the new Audi, especially with winter already arriving in many parts of the country.

Jim brought back his “burly” Audi S4 to have APR’s ECU Software Upgrade installed - taking advantage of the APR Winter Sale. Unfortunately we didn’t have a file specific to this particular ECU so we extracted the codes from it and had the information sent to APR so a file can be developed.

This process takes anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes so I had a chance to see what other little things Jim had done to his S4 - a week ago when Jim had his car here for the Stasis Differential and APR full exhaust install, he asked us to take the car to Benchmark Motoring for a few other “goodies” he had planned… Notice anything here?

A very stealthy install of both radar detector and laser jammer sensors in the front bumper and rear license plate mount allow Jim to travel cross-country with some peace of mind knowing that troopers can’t sneak up on him. A rear-view camera on the same license plate mount is also integrated to work with his factory RNSE (head) unit. A nice “hidden” display for the Passport system was cleanly installed in the factory ash-tray.

Jim is really particular to the new Hartmann RS6-204 wheels - Perhaps we’ll be able to update you in the near future if and when that happens. Other than the ECU upgrade, a rear differential upgrade is planned along with a few other exterior changes. As always, we’ll keep you posted!

Winter wheels for the B7 Audi RS4 can be tough to find, especially in a style that would complement the high-powered European sedan. This is why Hartmann Wheels receives many winter-wheel requests from RS4 owners every season, including Greg who brought us both his B7 RS4 and his B6 S4 to receive the Hartmann RS4-DTM Wheel .

Chris sent us photos of his VW Mk4 GTI which recently received a StopTech Big Brake Kit. The brake upgrade Chris chose includes a 4-piston caliper, 328×28mm slotted rotors, stainless-steel lines, and Axxis Ultimate ceramic brake pads.

The BBS CH wheels barely wrap around the larger brake calipers but they look fantastic!

Chris is a member of the Armed Forces and every now and then indulges on performance parts for his VW, even while he’s stationed over-seas. We are grateful for his continued support!

Despite the rain and early arrival of darkness these days, we were still able to get Mario’s Work VS-XX wheels on for him. The anticipation of seeing the final outcome was overwhelming so we even decided to go out for an informal ’shoot’ on our way home…

At 19×8.5″ all around, these Work VS-XX wheels fill the fenders of this Mk5 GLI perfectly and Mario didn’t have to do a single thing to change his original stance since careful measuring had ensured proper fitment. A final offset of 45mm was selected to maximize the lip on a high-offset requiring Mk5 yet push the face of the wheels out as close to the fender as possible without any tire-to-fender contact issues.

Mario took some of his own pictures during the shoot, most of which can be found in his testimonial (and fantastic write-up!!) but I like his photography style and wanted to share his pictures here with you as well.

Another set of the Hartmann S5-209 Wheels ended up on a D3 A8L. Immediately after taking delivery of his new car at University Audi, Gregg drove over to have us install his new wheels, everything of course pre-arranged during vehicle purchase.

At 20×9″ with a 25mm offset, the final stance has greatly improved from the factory stance!

Jason drove down from Vancouver, BC in his B7 Audi S4 on his way to this weekend’s Quattrofest 2008 event in Portland, Oregon. Prior to his track event though, he stopped here at Achtuning to purchase the STaSIS Ohlins SL Sport Suspension and Alcon Monobloc 4 - 355 Big Brake System to improve the handling and braking characteristics of his already well-performing S4 and enhance his track experience.

Stock B7 S4 suspension performs well but as Jason is an avid track enthusiast, the STaSIS Ohlins SL Sport Suspension would offer quicker reaction times and stability when cornering at high speeds, all the while retaining stock-like comfort for daily street driving.

And certainly braking could not be left alone as Jason prefers to wait for the very last possible moment before standing on the brakes and carrying out his high-speed turns on the track. The Alcon 4-piston calipers surrounding 355mm slotted rotors will give him the right amount of balanced braking power and heat dissipation for confident, last-second braking.
