End Piracy, Not Liberty Tell Congress: Don’t censor the Web
Written by Skyler on January 18, 2012 – 3:06 pm -There are two bills being debated about in Congress that Americans should be aware of as they have the potential to do much more harm than good. I implore you to take a few minutes out of your day to read about these bills and their potential effects. The links below provide good information about the bills as well as ways to contact your representatives if you would like to take action.

Achtuning is proud sponsor of this year’s Audi Club Northwest Matt Ammon Memorial Driving School and Teen Clinic
Written by Todd on March 23, 2011 – 10:51 am -
Once again it is our privilege to sponsor the Audi Club Northwest’s annual Matt Ammon Memorial Driving School and Teen Clinic for 2011.
Audi Club Northwest and Achtuning are proud to present the Fifth Annual Matt Ammon Memorial Driving School and Teen Driver Clinic at Bremerton Motorsports Park, May 14-15.
Who was Matt Ammon? Matt Ammon bought his ’01 Nogaro Blue Audi S4 in May of 2001 and became very active in local chapters of Audi Club North America in Ohio, Illinois, Virginia and Missouri before coming to the Seattle area in the Summer of 2006. Tragically, he was taken from us in November 2006. In his all too short time with us Matt brought his enthusiasm, skill and knowledge and quickly became integrated with the local Audi community and Audi Club Northwest. When asked what modifications one should make to their car, Matt would be quick to answer, “The first mod should be driving school.”
Saturday’s Driver Education (“DE”) is not the DE we had when we first earned our drivers license. This is an advanced DE course that is encouraged for all drivers, teens, novices or intermediate drivers. It is an exciting opportunity to learn how you and your car work together in real life situations on the street and highway. DE students will participate in a number of exercises (slalom, emergency braking, collision avoidance, skid pad) on Saturday morning and run the DE Autocross in the afternoon.
What is an autocross? An autocross is where drivers navigate through a course by following a route of cones that make up turns, gates and slaloms. Autocross is an excellent way to practice the car control skills learned in the morning’s driving clinic exercises.
More experienced drivers can register for the All-day Autocross on Saturday, which is held on a second course layout. The All-day Autocross is for practiced drivers looking for lots of runs! For enthusiasts, this big autocross is a chance to sharpen your skills for the new season.
On Sunday, we have our All-day Lapping or high performance driving school. What is lapping? Using street rules, with strict passing rules enforced, instructed lapping on a road course puts multiple cars on the course for 20-30 minute sessions. This is not racing; there is no side-by-side braking or fender contact. This is another great way to learn and practice car control. People who have completed a DE course and are 18+ years old are invited to participate. Anyone who drives on the interstate should attend at least one lapping event to practice skills at highway speeds.
The Teen Driver Clinic is discounted to $25 for young drivers 16-19 years old. Register early as there are only 15 spots available! This clinic is designed for the beginning driver, teaching valuable skills such as emergency braking, collision avoidance and car control. A parent, guardian or authorized representative must accompany teens younger than 18 to the facility.
Parents of teen drivers are encouraged to attend the Teen Driver Clinic as a participant! Take the same clinic as your teen; make the day important for you too! Share stories at home! A special package price of just $79 ($25 teen +$54 parent) puts each of you in the same exercises and practice so you can share the experience together. You’ll be able to talk about driver skill using the same terms, and have fun together. Teen and parent must register individually using the selections available in the next screens. You can share one car for this event; each of you will have the same driving time.
Adult drivers 18+ may choose from the following event options:
Two-day price of $225 for Driver Education and Lapping Day.
Two-day price of $195 for the All-day Autocross and Lapping Day.
One-day price of $100 for Saturday-only Driver Education and DE Autocross.
One-day price of $75 for Saturday All-day Autocross.
One-day price of $145 for Sunday Lapping Day.
Registration pricing includes lunch for each day you participate. Guest lunches are available for $12.
Sunday Lapping attendees must be Audi Club North America/Audi Club Northwest members. You may purchase membership at time of registration (best method) or go to the Audi Club North America website to join.
Saturday-only participants are welcome to come back on Sunday to spectate and talk with the new enthusiasts you’ve met. It is okay to bring friends with you too. You may be able to arrange rides with designated instructors on Sunday to experience first hand what a lapping day is all about.

225hp Mk1 Audi TT gets some APR and Stasis lovin’
Written by Dion on June 3, 2009 – 12:59 pm -John’s Audi TT received a good deal of upgrades courtesy of an APR 3″ turbo-back exhaust and Stasis Streetsport suspension.

The turbo-back exhaust is a completely stainless-steel, mandrel-bent system that looks stunning beneath John’s car. At idle it has a nice low tone, deeper than stock. Once you hit the throttle though the car really makes its presence known.

When we say parts are in stock, we mean it!
Written by Dion on May 15, 2009 – 8:11 pm -We got the call from Adrian around 7pm Thursday evening. He mentioned he would be finishing up a military training session at 2am in LA that next morning, then arriving in Seattle early Friday. He asked what we might be able to do for his recently purchased Mk4 GTI. As it turned out, we had plenty readily available for him to get a good jump-start on his modding bug.Adrian ended up spending a big portion of his day with Achtuning as he asked us to transform his VW Mk4 GTI into an even better performing European hot hatch, courtesy of a Stasis Streetsport Coil-Over Kit and APR ECU Upgrade.

To Adrian’s surprise, we found that the GTI he picked up used had already been equipped with APR software, just locked out. We glady unlocked his software for him which opened up the budget for more performance parts. As it turned out, the brakes were also in need of attention and since we had a couple of StopTech’s 328x28mm Big Brake Kits on the shelf, he decided to go for it!

Adrian will have a chance to test out StopTech’s claims of having the best over-all braking distance improvement without the worry of over-working the master cylinder as brake bias is kept balanced with the appropriately sized brake pistons for the Mk4. Having larger, cleaner, and bright red calipers to show off that stopping power is just icing on the cake!

Gear up soon with Hartmann and Achtuning apparel!
Written by Dion on May 15, 2009 – 10:55 am -The Hartmann Wheel brand has been a solid product since it’s inception in 1978 and one we intend to keep alive for many years to come. In fact new plans are in the works for expanding the Hartmann product line in the near future but we’ll discuss more of that at another time.
As new wheel designs keep rolling in, new ideas are also floating around the office. We’re bringing back an old crest-style design and giving it some fresh new updates to accompany the Hartmann logo. The recent acquisition of a couple new toys, a plotter and a heat press, are going to help us do just that!

What do you guys think?

As we come up with some new designs, expect to see the Achtuning Apparel Product section grow as well! We’re hearing your requests to provide more Achtuning/Hartmann gear so expect to see more soon!

Stasis Streetsports
Written by Dion on May 14, 2009 – 10:00 am -We wrapped up the Stasis Streetsport Coil-Over install on Nathan’s A4 last night. After the springs settle we’ll take a look and see how far the wheels can get pushed out with some H&R spacers as Nathan likes the Titanium Package 18″ wheels that came with the car but wants a more aggressive stance.

BPCDubs Presents » Chuckanut Cruise – May 2, 2009 (This Saturday!)
Written by Dion on April 28, 2009 – 2:35 pm -When: May 2, 2009 at 10:00 am
Why: To enjoy a cruise with fellow European car enthusiasts and to support Northwest Harvest.
Who: All European car enthusiasts
This is the first annual Chuckanut Cruise brought to you by BPCDubs and sponsoring Northwest Harvest. If you’ve never made this drive before, it is absolutely fantastic. Forests and trees on one side of the road, and the ocean on the other side. It’s a very scenic drive with amazing photo opportunities.
Where to meet:
Lynnwood Park & Ride
164th St SW & Ash Way, Lynnwood, WA
Map:

We will be meeting at this park and ride because it is convenient for people coming from either 405 or I5. We will have people available to help guide vehicles to the appropriate section of the Park & Ride, this is the same meeting spot as the Tuesday Lynnwood GTG.
**Please make sure you have a full tank of gas and that you have used the restroom when you arrive at the Park & Ride, the group will not be making any stops until we get to Bellingham!**
When:
We will be meeting at 10am at the Park and Ride and will be leaving promptly at 10:30am. This will give people some time to hang out, chit chat, ogle other people’s cars, and hit the road.
Donations:
We will be taking donations for Northwest Harvest as a part of this cruise, every vehicle in attendance should bring 4 cans of food to donate to Northwest Harvest.
Northwest Harvest is a local non-profit organization that collects food and provides it for free to local food banks and meal programs throughout the state.
You can find out more about the organization here:
http://www.northwestharvest.or…e.htm

There are no planned group stops along the way, there are very few stopping points once you get off I5 and on to Chuckanut Drive.
12:30 – 1:00pm: Arrive in downtown Bellingham via N. Forest St.
Hopefully some of the pack leaders with photography skills can shoot pictures as people drive into Bellingham along the main drag. At this point in the day, people will break up for lunch wherever they would like in Bellingham.
3:00pm: Everyone will meet at Larrabee State Park which is on your way back down south via Chuckanut.
Address:
245 Chuckanut Drive
Bellingham, WA 98229
Map:
http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/…p.pdf
Once we arrive at Larrabee Park we will have the opportunity to take pictures, hang out, and enjoy the awesome PNW European car enthusiast community! At this point in the day, people can hang out as long as they want and depart when they wish. Many of us will be taking the drive back via Chuckanut Drive as well.
The route that we currently have planned is 80 miles each way from Lynnwood to Bellingham.
Now that all of the fun informational stuff has been addressed, the serious stuff needs to be discussed.
**SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY!!!**
This is without a doubt our #1 concern.
We all will be driving as a group, and as a group, we all represent the European car enthusiast community. No one is to do any burn-outs, illegal lane changes, or passing on the shoulder. Everyone needs to keep their speed under control and make sure that they are not following cars in front of them too closely, whether they are with our group or not. SAFETY is paramount; do not drive like an idiot!
Please make sure that you are allowing other vehicles that are not part of our cruise to merge onto the highway. You don’t need to worry about being separated from the rest of the group. It is extremely unsafe to do this and we are not in a race to get to our destination, it’s called a cruise for a reason. Drive respectfully, safely, and courteously to everyone around you.
This thread will be modified as we make updates or clarifications.
Look out for more BPCDubs events in the future.
