StopTech ST-41 BBK Install for VW GTI

Xin selected StopTech’s 328x25mm (1-piece rotor) ST-41 Big Brake Kit for his VW GTI, a great way to improve on the stock brake components without breaking the bank. The kits are available for front axle applications and include StopTech 1-piece Sport Rotors, StopTech ST-41 powder-coated four-piston calipers with the patented stiffening bridge, StopTech Street Performance brake pads for extended high performance street driving as well as occasional track use, StopTech braided stainless steel brake lines, plus all necessary brackets and hardware to complete the job.

StopTech One-Piece Big Brake Kits for 2006-2012 VW GTI – Part Number 82.893.5N00.XX

The stiff 2-piece, fully-forged calipers have designated piston sizes specific to this application and provide a firmer, more responsive brake pedal that provides better brake pedal modulation. The larger 328x25mm directionally-vaned 1-piece StopTech Sport Rotors, available in slotted or drilled finishes, provide greater heat capacity and reduced brake fade. Also assisting in fade resistance and higher performance are the StopTech Street Performance Pads which have a high maximum operating temperature and high bite for responsive brakes that can be driven hard. The included StopTech braided stainless steel brake lines reduce system compliance and help provide a firmer pedal with a more immediate and better modulated response to inputs. APR presents the APR Stage III+ High-Flow, CNC-Ported, Performance Cylinder Head for the 2.0T FSI (EA113) Engine.

Through specific Stage III+ calibration changes, this directly translates to a +70 HP gain over APR’s existing BPY, AXX and BWA Stage III Turbocharger System on 93 (R+M)/2 octane fuel and up to +126 HP on race fuel!

APR Supercharger Upgrade Installed on Matt’s Audi S5

Matt has taken the plunge!  With only 5000 miles on his Audi S5 he has pulled the trigger on an APR “Stage 3″ Supercharger kit that should bump up power levels to a whopping 530hp/440tq!  Not only will Matt’s S5 produce blistering increases in wide open throttle acceleration, daily driving will greatly be improved with increased torque and horsepower available in even the lowest rpm’s of the power band.  Less downshifting for passing and greater rates of acceleration at all points result in a driving characteristic of pure enjoyment in all situations.  We trust Matt will enjoy his drive home!

We are happy to announce the arrival of the first of 4 Hartmann Wheel containers this morning at Achtuning! Many of our back-orders will begin to ship as early as next week with more shipping after our last container arrives next Thursday. APR Presents the MK6 GLI RSC Exhaust System

APR’s RSC™ Technology is now available for the VW MK6 Jetta GLI in their newest 2.0T RSC™ 3″ Performance Exhaust System. RSC™ or Reflective Sound Cancellation allows for maximum exhaust gas flow while completely eliminating unwanted in cabin sound resonance known as “drone.” RSC™ incorporates innovative technologies developed in conjunction with NASA. With limited use of packing materials and no baffles, RSC™ allows for a completely straight and free flowing exhaust path throughout the RSC™ mufflers. Reflective Cancellation bounces the undesirable sound waves into each other to attenuate the wave and completely eliminate the low frequency tones that create drone. Each RSC™ muffler is tuned to eliminate specific, undesirable sound frequencies allowing only the engine’s true and desirable exhaust note to be heard and improving performance.

APR’s design specifications and manufacturing requirements result in a 3″ mandrel bend stainless steel performance exhaust system with minimal bends unmatched by any other. RSC™ technology ensures the maximum possible performance increases from any performance exhaust system while maintaining refined and unobtrusive sound inside the cabin.

APR ECU Upgrades and TDI Info

So far we’ve had several successful APR ECU upgrades on 2.0 TDI (140hp) Audis and VWs and we want to give everyone some detailed information with regard to availability of an ECU upgrade for your TDI. When you come to see us, we will plug into your OBD-II port and load APR’s Direct Port Programming online flashing suite. The computer will scan your car to see if software is available. If it is, you can flash and go on your way. If it isn’t, we’ll do what’s called a “Code Extract” to send your ECU information to APR for software creation.

Currently we are extracting and flashing ECU’s with the 1796 processor. However, vehicles with the 1797 ECU found in select new vehicles are still in development. We can take a good guess which processor revision is which based on your ECU Box code, however, the only way to be sure is to open the ECU and check.

Audi/VW/Seat/Skoda have MANY ECU part numbers and revisions for each vehicle in their fleet, so typically during the launch of a new software code, there’s some lag time before all of the codes are available. Codes will not become available unless APR actually sees them, which means taking a trip to come see us to do that scan/code extraction will speed up the process.

If you have a Ross Tech VCDS cable, you can do some homework to find what you have. Just follow this guide:

Once again it is our privilege to sponsor the Audi Club Northwest’s annual Matt Ammon Memorial Driving School and Teen Clinic for 2011.

Audi Club Northwest and Achtuning are proud to present the Fifth Annual Matt Ammon Memorial Driving School and Teen Driver Clinic at Bremerton Motorsports Park, May 14-15.

Who was Matt Ammon? Matt Ammon bought his ’01 Nogaro Blue Audi S4 in May of 2001 and became very active in local chapters of Audi Club North America in Ohio, Illinois, Virginia and Missouri before coming to the Seattle area in the Summer of 2006. Tragically, he was taken from us in November 2006. In his all too short time with us Matt brought his enthusiasm, skill and knowledge and quickly became integrated with the local Audi community and Audi Club Northwest. When asked what modifications one should make to their car, Matt would be quick to answer, “The first mod should be driving school.”

Saturday’s Driver Education (“DE”) is not the DE we had when we first earned our drivers license. This is an advanced DE course that is encouraged for all drivers, teens, novices or intermediate drivers. It is an exciting opportunity to learn how you and your car work together in real life situations on the street and highway. DE students will participate in a number of exercises (slalom, emergency braking, collision avoidance, skid pad) on Saturday morning and run the DE Autocross in the afternoon.

What is an autocross? An autocross is where drivers navigate through a course by following a route of cones that make up turns, gates and slaloms. Autocross is an excellent way to practice the car control skills learned in the morning’s driving clinic exercises.

More experienced drivers can register for the All-day Autocross on Saturday, which is held on a second course layout. The All-day Autocross is for practiced drivers looking for lots of runs! For enthusiasts, this big autocross is a chance to sharpen your skills for the new season.

On Sunday, we have our All-day Lapping or high performance driving school. What is lapping? Using street rules, with strict passing rules enforced, instructed lapping on a road course puts multiple cars on the course for 20-30 minute sessions. This is not racing; there is no side-by-side braking or fender contact. This is another great way to learn and practice car control. People who have completed a DE course and are 18+ years old are invited to participate. Anyone who drives on the interstate should attend at least one lapping event to practice skills at highway speeds.

The Teen Driver Clinic is discounted to $25 for young drivers 16-19 years old. Register early as there are only 15 spots available! This clinic is designed for the beginning driver, teaching valuable skills such as emergency braking, collision avoidance and car control. A parent, guardian or authorized representative must accompany teens younger than 18 to the facility.

Parents of teen drivers are encouraged to attend the Teen Driver Clinic as a participant! Take the same clinic as your teen; make the day important for you too! Share stories at home! A special package price of just $79 ($25 teen +$54 parent) puts each of you in the same exercises and practice so you can share the experience together. You’ll be able to talk about driver skill using the same terms, and have fun together. Teen and parent must register individually using the selections available in the next screens. You can share one car for this event; each of you will have the same driving time.

Adult drivers 18+ may choose from the following event options:

Two-day price of $225 for Driver Education and Lapping Day.
Two-day price of $195 for the All-day Autocross and Lapping Day.
One-day price of $100 for Saturday-only Driver Education and DE Autocross.
One-day price of $75 for Saturday All-day Autocross.
One-day price of $145 for Sunday Lapping Day.
Registration pricing includes lunch for each day you participate. Guest lunches are available for $12.

Sunday Lapping attendees must be Audi Club North America/Audi Club Northwest members. You may purchase membership at time of registration (best method) or go to the Audi Club North America website to join.

Saturday-only participants are welcome to come back on Sunday to spectate and talk with the new enthusiasts you’ve met. It is okay to bring friends with you too. You may be able to arrange rides with designated instructors on Sunday to experience first hand what a lapping day is all about.
