Careful measuring, LOTS of communication back-and-forth, waiting, more communication, then more waiting… We’re told the process had been painful and lengthy to get corrected specs that would make it work, but in the end it was all worth it as Patty now has the first red/white combo’d MINI Cooper running color-matched BBS RS wheels. You’d really be hard pressed to find a better looking example out there! All that was needed was the finishing touch and we were tasked with the installation of NM Engineering’s RSA Spring Kit, mounting and balancing tires on the new rollers, and installing a set of StopTech Street Performance brake parts to improve braking and minimize brake dust.

Scott met Andrew and Leo here at the shop while the two were here to receive StopTech’s brake-line upgrade and fluid flush prior to the weekend’s QuattroFest event. Not uncommon at all to have a line-up of B8 S4s here and it’s always a pleasure to see! We hear the guys are coming back eventually for a StopTech BBK and APR ECU upgrade in the future, since it was apparent how much of a difference those upgrades made on Scott’s car while tackling Portland International Raceway. We will be here when they are ready.

StopTech’s 328x28mm, 4-piston big brake kit wraps up the laundry list of parts Tim has asked us to install on his brand-new VW (Mk6) GTI. This all after an APR K04 turbo upgrade, turbo-back exhaust, intercooler, H&R Sport Springs, and 19″ Hartmann HRS4-252 Wheels ended up on the car. Now Tim just needs to get himself home safe and sound after serving in our Armed Forces so he can enjoy the fruits of his labor!

While waiting for some zinc-coated rotors for Tim’s StopTech BBK to show up, we installed H&R’s Sport Spring Kit for the VW (Mk6) GTI. Tim is looking into coil-overs for a future installment after he returns home and gets a chance to get to know his GTI a bit but meanwhile, the sport springs will at least allow the car to handle slightly better than stock and address the wheel gap issue – “can’t do all this work and have it sitting at stock height”, says Tim. And now with our alignment rack all up and operating, we are able to offer you both suspension and alignment services in one stop!

We’re moving along as we’ve got the APR K04 turbo upgrade, turbo-back exhaust, and intercooler installed on Tim’s VW (Mk6) GTI today. APR’s ECU software upgrade specific to the K04 turbo is being loaded next to ensure proper management of the upgraded components and then we’ll tackle suspension and brakes in our next installment!

An APR K04 turbo, intercooler, turbo-back exhaust, and cold air intake from Carbonio make up the next series of parts making their way onto Tim’s VW (Mk6) GTI today. And what better way is there to initiate Nate, our newest addition to the ACHTUN!NG team and certified Audi technician, as he begins his first day at Achtuning!

In this first installment of Tim’s Mk6 GTI build, we are featuring our 19″ Hartmann HRS4-252 Wheel in Smoked Silver, a wheel he has been anxiously waiting to see pictured on his car. For those of you just tuning in, Tim is serving us overseas in our Armed Forced and is eagerly watching the progress as we take his stock VW 2011 GTI, a car he hasn’t seen in person other than the pictures you see here, and take it to the next level.

From what we’ve mentioned in our first installment, performance products from APR, Carbonio, H&R, and StopTech are now left on the list. More next week!
