In this first installment of Tim’s Mk6 GTI build, we are featuring our 19″ Hartmann HRS4-252 Wheel in Smoked Silver, a wheel he has been anxiously waiting to see pictured on his car. For those of you just tuning in, Tim is serving us overseas in our Armed Forced and is eagerly watching the progress as we take his stock VW 2011 GTI, a car he hasn’t seen in person other than the pictures you see here, and take it to the next level.

From what we’ve mentioned in our first installment, performance products from APR, Carbonio, H&R, and StopTech are now left on the list. More next week!

We are happy to report we are several steps closer in being able to offer wheel alignment and corner balancing services!

A new addition to our alignment rack are these corner balancing scales just in from Longacre Racing!

In addition to your basic 2 and 4 wheel alignments, we will be able to offer corner balancing services in the near future, too!

It’s official: ACHTUN!NG now offers tire mounting & balancing services!

Due to the risk of transferring dirt from used wheels to our tire machine which could potentially scratch our new wheels, we made it a point to protect our customer purchases by not offering tire dismount/mounting/balancing services. With the latest purchase of a new dedicated tire machine, I am very pleased to announce we are finally in a position to offer all our customers tire services like mounting & balancing and tire rotation! The cost for this service begins at $25 per wheel/tire. Please contact us and schedule an appointment for your wheel and tire servicing needs!

It’s long been a common fact that chip-tuning offers the best, bang-for-buck modification to your turbo-charged VW or Audi, and Alex wasted no time in getting his VW Mk6 GTI 2.0T tuned with APR software shortly after his new car purchase. To address in-coming air flow through the engine, the Carbonio intake was installed within months of the chip purchase.

… And now it’s time to address the exhaust. The restriction in the factory down-pipe alone is noticeable without comparing it to APR’s 3″ version.

Being budget-minded, Alex chose to replace only the down-pipe for now, the part of the exhaust that frees up the most amount of power. The APR 3″ down-pipe comes with a reducer to mate to the factory rear muffler section.

Combined with APR’s “Stage 2″ programming, the down-pipe install is good for another 15-20hp and improved throttle response. And since the factory axle-back is still in place, it remains completely stock-looking out back and remains fairly quiet!

ACHTUN!NG has some exciting news to share for the upcoming 2011 season! As we mentioned in previous installments, we picked up an alignment rack to widen the range of services we can offer to our European car enthusiasts. Since then, we’ve already upgraded!

It’s also been a long-time goal for us to be able to offer our customers tire replacement services, considering our current equipment limits us to new tire mounting on new wheels only. We are one step closer to being able to offer this service thanks to the arrival of our new tire machine!

We just ordered an APR “Stage 4″ (completely BUILT) motor and it’s on the way to replace the current APR “Ed30″ K04-powered kit.  APR claims 460 wheel horse power!

NM-Engineering performance products have been popular for our local MINI crowd, and Ernie is no exception with his blacked-out John Cooper Works edition, the first of the 2011 models to hit the state! Ernie’s first suspension modification is the NM 22mm Rear Sway Bar.

Install was a breeze and we anticipate Ernie will be back for a coil-over purchase next!

Taking advantage of ACHTOBERFEST Sale Pricing is Jacob with his Audi (B7) A4 Avant. Jacob’s been through a few times as he fulfills his quest to slowly upgrade his car to European standards and performance levels. Today was all about a Hartmann GT exhaust upgrade.

The Hartmann GT full exhaust system for the Audi B7 A4 is a complete mandrel bent, stainless-steel exhaust system starting with a 63mm main pipe splitting to dual 57mm pipes and ending with 90mm bevel-cut, round exhaust tips. The Hartmann GT full exhaust system has a deeper tone than stock and increases the loudness of the exhaust by about 20% to give a very nice sound and pleasant driving experience at all RPM’s.

Our alignment rack is in and operational!  Just need to tweak a few things here and there, clean it up some more, and finish painting it before we can begin taking appointments for in-house alignments!  No need to call-in yet to ask when we’ll have this fully operational, just stay tuned here for the official announcement.  Thanks in advance for your patience!
