Jon’s RS4 wide body project nears completion!
Written by Dion on September 14, 2009 – 10:29 am -Jon sent us the latest of his OEM wide body RS4 project.

The S6 LEDs have been carefully placed into the fog light location of the B7 RS4 front bumper and looks a helluva lot cleaner than the previous Oettinger set-up. Very small, subtle exterior changes have also been completed like shaved bumper markers and the removal of other distracting lines, as well as installation of the blacked-out Titanium Package window trim. The interior is also mostly put together too as you can see in the video Jon posted on YouTube.

Jon’s Widebody Project is almost complete!
Written by Dion on September 8, 2009 – 12:38 pm -Jon’s B6 S4 project is coming along! Eurotuner has even deemed it worthy of their Garage Projects page – you can read about it in this month’s issue. Perhaps they’ll find it worthy of a full feature once we are done with it but for now, here are some updates.
First are the Rays Engineering wheels in 18×10. We mentioned in our last update that a set of 20×8.5 Work VS-XX wheels will end up on the car but Jon decided a second set of wheels would allow him to put the car on the ground with proper stance while he decided what color and finish he would do the VS-XXs in. At a hair over 19 lbs. per wheel, it will be the perfect set of wheels to beat up at the track, too!

We knew it was going to be a very close fit, wrapping these 18x10s around the Stasis Mono6 big brakes, but it cleared with more room than we thought!

The car itself is all painted, with just a few miscellaneous parts waiting to arrive before final assembly is complete.

Time to get the Fuchs outta here!!!
Written by Dion on August 26, 2009 – 4:22 pm -We’re throwing on a set of 16″ Fuchs replicas on Steve’s Mk2 16v GLI for a test-fit. Despite the very low offset paired with H&R 25mm adapters (4×100 to 5×130), not only do they work but they look fantastic on the car!

Tires are en route so we can determine the best size to run with this particular offset and we’re blowing out prices on the Hartmann’s Fuch replica… Stay tuned!

Achtuning A3 Project
Written by Dion on July 27, 2009 – 4:28 pm -Achtuning wants to credit Jamie Everett for this set of fantastic rolling shots captured of our Achtuning A3 Project! These shots were taken on the way to the WaterWerks 2009 event held at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, WA.

The Achtuning A3 project is proud to show off high quality performance parts from H&R, APR, StopTech, and Hartmann’s Forged Split-7 Wheels. Other than the factory votex kit painted by Dreamwerks Custom Paint in Monroe, WA little has been done to further enhance the exterior appeal of the car yet it turns heads on just about every corner. We are very pleased with how the project turned out.

Thank you Jamie, Hans, Andy, APR, H&R, and StopTech!

B6 S4 widebody project several steps closer to complete!
Written by Dion on July 23, 2009 – 12:50 pm -The last time Jon gave us an update on his RS4 wide body conversion project, JMI had positioned OEM B7 RS4 body panels to Jon’s B6 in preparation for welding, sanding, priming, and paint. Today we are updated with many pictures showing the exterior transformation of such a massive project.

A roll cage also ended up finding its way in there, another fine job done by the boys at JMI.

Then while browsing the online forums, Jon came across a set of 20″ Work Brombacher Wheels for a price that was unbelievable and impossible to pass up – even if he wasn’t planning to run the wheels on the car in the first place! Then of course a test-fit would determine how well they’d fit with the new, wider fenders.

As if Work wheels and a wide body conversion weren’t enough for this project, Jon picked up a set of Alcon Mono6 Big Brakes in the 370mm version in hopes that it would fill the void left behind the 20″ wheels… Even the largest rotor in the Stasis/Alcon line-up wasn’t enough!

Carbon fiber found it’s way around Jon’s stock B-pillars. Jon also decided to make his own carbon fiber splitter for the front bumper. For his first attempt at doing anything with fiberglass or carbon fiber, these turned out pretty damned good!

We hope to get more updates later this week. Jon unfortunately missed the deadline to have the car ready by WaterWerks 2009 but one more PacNW Audi event is on the near horizon and we hope to see the project complete by then.

Seoul Auto Salon attendance a success!
Written by Dion on July 13, 2009 – 9:12 am -Back to the show prep, I saw this picture of flag at Eurotuners, which I wanted to replicate..
I ended up with a flag for each generation of GTI.

We also got the floor plan from the host, which is now completed with final banners and logos.

Not with the same cars, but it will look like this when everything is done & ready for the show.

After several days & nights of struggling, we were able to get all 5 GTI’s ready for the show.

Let’s all drive to the COEX at Samsung-dong, where the show is hosted.

APR crest on Chris’ GTI was not yet applied, so we had to work on the last minute.

No one has done such work, so we had to basically go at it & see what happens.

Luckily, we had some talented guys with us, so it worked out.

The show begins… and we got the pass.

Booth is better than I expected, thanks to so many friends who helped.

Back of the booth, picture courtesy of arin @ APR.

Mk5 GTI 2.0T, owned by Chris Park @ VAG. APR Stage2+ HPFP and full of OSIR CF parts.

Mk4 GTI 1.8T AGU engine with Ruddel chip, OZ wheels, Brembo brake, Recaro seat, etc..

Mk3 GTI VR6, owned by my brother, car was being sold during the show.

Mk2 GTI 16v 4door from Europe, with full Reiger body kit

My Mk1 replacement, Mk2 shell with Mk3 power train with single round headlight

And they are finally at the booth together.

At the display, we had several APR products, including S3 ED30 K04 kit that pushes GTI to 320hp.

I also had array of Haldex products at the booth.

Thanks to Billy @ Norpac, I had key badges for sale (but sale was low).

Modified version of Achtuning T shirts.

Me & Jeffrey at the booth.

To be continued…

More follow-up progress on Jon’s RS4 wide body project
Written by Dion on June 19, 2009 – 4:18 pm -Jon stopped by JMI today to drop off some parts. He had planned on swapping out the center console but since he didn’t have any radio keys on him he’ll have to tackle that later.Rear end is all aligned, they just need to tack weld the pieces in place.
- inner wheel wells
- rear reflector delete
- weld roll bar attachment points
- fit S6 LEDs
Overall things that remain:
- b7 center console
- exhaust cutouts
- stasis front/rear brakes
- battery relocate

Progress continues on Jon’s “wide body” project
Written by Dion on June 16, 2009 – 9:59 am -Jon rolled out to JMI this last Monday to check on progress on body work of his B6-S4-to-B7-RS4 wide body project, a nice alternative to his usual dreary Mondays.
He picked up a set of triple squares this last weekend so he could pull the seats out of the car. A half cage and fresh paint will later end up inside the car. Jeff@JMI started cutting the rear quarter panels off of the S4 last week, too. When Jon arrived he had one side of the car together already! He’s going to finish the passenger side this week and start work on fitting the S6 LEDs to the front bumper.
According to Jon, it looks like they should be able to hit the car with primer this week and paint the next!

A bumper, hood fenders, snub mount, and a lightweight pulley
Written by Jonathan on June 6, 2009 – 1:21 pm -It almost looks like a car again! The new serp tensioner came in, so I put than on and tightened up the serp belt. With the serpentine stuff all done, I proceeded to move over the fans, radiator, etc to the new core support. For those of you replacing radiators in the future, the couplers are just friction fit.

Once I got the core support on, I added/flushed fluids. I added new G12+, Mobil1 5w30, and flushed my P/S fluid. We test fit the hood and bumper, everything lines up well. It needs some fender adjustment and some more brackets, but it looks damn good! The hood has some poor paint/resin (EuroGear) that will be fixed before paint.
Car should hopefully be done by the end of the month, but of course, this depends on parts and what not.
