New Hartmann Wheel styles have arrived!

8 10 2008

A late arriving shipment (5:00pm) meant we were gonna be in for a rather late evening unloading 800+ wheels from our recent container.  We’ve been anticipating the arrival of some new Hartmann Wheel styles.

With an unusual quick pace, we were able to unload the entire container in just over 2 and a half hours, over-filling warehouse capacity.

One of the very new Hartmann Wheel styles we are excited to introduce is the all-new Hartmann RS6-204 Wheel.  It’s a unique multi-split 5-spoke design.

This style is being offered with a 5×112 bolt pattern in 18×8 with 32 and 20mm offsets, and 19×8.5 with 38 and 25mm offsets.  These wheels also clear most big brake kits.

We are still offering the Hartmann RS6-172 wheel and have brought in that style in an 18×8, 32mm offset - aggressive but fits most applications and also has clearance for most big brake applications.

The Hartmann RS4-252 Wheel isn’t new to us, however this new anthracite/machined finish is definitely something we haven’t offered yet.  This new finish offers a touch more class to an already classy wheel.

The difference between the Hartmann RS4-252 and the new Hartmann RS4-252M (”M” for machined obviously) is very subtle, but different enough to differentiate between the two…

The Hartmann RS4-252M is offered only in a 19×8.5 size and 38mm offset and is listed at $295 per wheel.

Remember our Hartmann RS4-DTM?  The continuing style has been brought in a half-inch wider at 8.5 in the 18″ diameter.  The 18×8.5 is offered with a 38mm offset as well as a 25mm for the new B8 chassis.

Updates are being made to the Achtuning Online Catalog as I type this.  We will bring in a few customer cars to test-fit some of our new wheels and we’ll update our posts and gallery with pictures as they become available.

Feel free to contact us directly if you have any fitment questions. Wheels are ready to ship!!

STaSIS exhaust on B7 Audi S-Line A4

2 10 2008

Mark stopped by with his S-Line A4 to get his ECU “reflashed” due to a dealer update that wiped out his APR software. While here he was trying to decide between a suspension upgrade (STaSIS Streetsports) or a STaSIS exhaust system as his next upgrade.

Turns out, Ariel was here picking up her B7 A4 S-Line from us after we installed suspension, wheels, and tires, and since her car is equipped with the STaSIS exhaust he was able to get an idea of what sound to expect.

Well, it probably didn’t help that he stopped by on the first day of launching our Achtoberfest Sale. 30-minutes later, we had his car pulled in around back and began installation. I’m not sure if I should congratulate him or apologize!

Out with the old…

… And in with the new.

19″ Hartmann 252 and STaSIS suspension transform this B7 Audi S-Line A4

2 10 2008

It didn’t take much to make Ariel’s B7 Audi S-Line A4 to get from this…

… To this!

As common as an “RS4-style” wheel is on an A4, it doesn’t seem to get old. The ever-popular STaSIS Streetsport coil-over kit completed the subtle transformation making the A4 into a “classy” head-turner.

Ariel had a set of Pirelli tires sent to us from Tire Rack in a 245/35-19, the larger of the two commonly chosen tire sizes for 19″ wheels on the B7 A4. When Ariel mentioned interest in the Hartmann 252, a 42mm offset in a 19×8.5 was suggested rather than the more common 38mm version.

APR software, a STaSIS exhaust system, and Carbonio Intake also pep-up this A4 a bit. In fact the exhaust system alone helped us sell another set-up to a customer visiting us for an APR re-burn. (Thanks Ariel!)

Apparently this is just the start for this A4 as more modifications are planned for the near future. Can’t wait to what’s in store for it. Oh, and Happy Birthday Ariel!!

VW Mk4 GTI’s stance improves with H&R spacers

22 09 2008

H&R spacers allow you to change the stance of your vehicle by pushing the wheel away from your hub based on the size spacer. Longer wheel bolts are then used to accommodate for the extra “space” and bolt the wheel to the hub with the spacer in between. H&R spacers are many times installed only to make an aesthetic difference and change vehicle stance but there are some instances where H&R spacers are needed for specific wheels and their offsets to clear suspension components. Take Brandon’s black mk4 1.8T GTI for example…

In order to run these specific 18×8.5, 35mm offset wheels at the height his car sits with his FK coil-overs, 10mm hubcentric H&R spacers were required to push the inside of the wheel and tire away from the suspension components. This allowed Brandon to keep the extreme lowered stance he was after.

Consequently the outer clearance between tire and fender is minimized accordingly so care has to be used on tight cornering or hard bumps to keep the 225/40 tire from hitting the fender. Brandon has plans to roll his front fenders to give the tires additional clearance. And since the fronts were pushed out, the rear wheels naturally had to get pushed out as well to match the front stance and H&R’s 15mm spacers were selected. This aggressive stance completely transforms the look of the GTI and goes to show how much a car’s looks can change with such a small and simple modification.

Achtuning stocks a wide variety of H&R Wheel Spacers, ranging from 5mm on up to 30mm for VW and Audi applications and we offer free shipping. We also stock 4×100, 5×100, and 5×112 H&R Wheel Adapters that enable you to run 5×130 Porsche wheels or even some 5×120 BMW wheels for you 5×100 guys. Contact us directly if you have any fitment questions!

Sizes available:  S, M, L, XL, and kid’s XL

Tis the season for 19s…

26 08 2008

We were visited by three Pacific Northwest (vwvortex forum) members yesterday… They were here to pick up new sets of 19s for their Audis.

First, we have Mike and his beautiful wife Charlotte’s C5 A6 2.7T… Lowered on KW suspension, this car hugs the 19″ Hartmann G5 wheels so tightly, the tie rods are about to pop!

I hear Mike plans to bring the fronts down even more!!

Then we’ve got “Gaki”. Originally planning to go with a set of clearanced TSW wheels, he talked himself into our Hartmann line with the AR8 wheels in 19×8.5 and a 38mm offset. Lowered on STaSIS Streetsport Coil-Overs, the stance on this B7 A4 with the R8 wheels is just stunning. Good choice, Anthony.

All 19″ Hartmann Wheel purchases are currently eligible to receive a set of 235/35-19 Dunlop Sport Maxx tires mounted and balanced for free and at a cost of $600 for the set - a $200 savings from leading tire distributors like Tire Rack!!

Stopping power with StopTech

8 08 2008

Dave Meister stopped by to grab some raffle items we are giving away for the 2008 WaterWërks event so I snapped a couple of pictures since he recently installed our 328×28mm StopTech Big Brake Kit for the Mk4s.

StopTech’s Mk4 BBK includes 2 piece floating directional 328mm x 28mm slotted rotors with 7075 T6 billet aluminum hats, 4 piston ST-40 calipers, stainless steel front brake lines and AXXIS Ultimate front brake pads.

Stoptech Big Brake Kits give your vehicle that Supercar look and feel, and exceed stock performance in two areas. First, larger rotors increase heat capacity. Second, stiffer calipers and stainless steel lines reduce system compliance.

The key, however, is to increase heat capacity and reduce compliance without upsetting the stock front to rear brake torque ratio. If the brake upgrade you select adds too much front torque (as many do), you reduce your car’s ability to utilize the tractive capacity of all of the tires to the maximum practical extent (even on ABS equipped cars) and you therefore create performance sacrifices. In addition, too many pistons or pistons that are too large will make the brake pedal much more difficult to modulate, which limits a driver’s control of brake input on the race track. This StopTech kit is a perfect balanced brake upgrade for the Mk4.

We’ve got a few of these kits left on the shelf for those who want to get in on the sweet deal - $1495!!

The New 20″ Hartmann S5 - 209 wheels on an Audi D3 A8!

1 08 2008

The Hartmann S5 - 209 wheels are sized at 20×9.0″ Et25 which fills out the D3s fenders much better than the stock 19×8.5″ ET45 wheels, which gives the car a nice aggressive look with out any rubbing issues.

This setup places the front wheels right at the edge of the fender. Owners looking for the ultimate look would have the option to use small spacers on the rear wheels to get them as close as possible to the edge of the rear fender.

The S5 - 209 wheels have a machined face and lip with anthracite painted pockets, the entire wheel is finished with a clearcoat. The wheels are designed to use the OEM Audi lugbolts so there is no need to purchase additional hardware with the wheel.

Falken FK-452 tires in a 255-35-20 size were chosen on this package, the Falkens are a performance summer tire which can also handle our typical Seattle rain very well. The 19×8.5″ S5-209 wheels are priced at $295-each, the 20×9.0″ version is $385-each, we have Falken tires available for both sizes and of course we have our Tire Rack link for those looking for other options.

Hartmann Currently has the S5 - 209 available for Audi A5, S5, D3 A8 and S8, allroad and B7 RS4 fitments. Fitments for the A4, S4, A6 and MkII are coming in around the end of September.

If you have any questions or would like to place an order please give us a call at 1-877-722-4886 or send us an E-mail, click here to shop online on Achtuning.com for Hartmann S5 - 209 replicas. You can click on any of the above pictures to see higher resolution pictures in our gallery :)

Who said you can’t put 20s on an All-Road?

31 07 2008

Being that the All-Road is as close to a cross-over vehicle without really being one, 20″ wheels would tend to not be as practical. Here at Achtuning though, we’re not always about “practical”… Especially when it just looks so good!!

The Hartmann QS-10 is a replica of one of the Audi Q7 wheels and is available in bolt patterns to fit both Audis and Porsches. Pictured below is the 20×9, 5×112 version with a 40mm offset mated with 25mm front and rear H&R DRA style spacers. Tire size is 275/30-20 but we intend to go down to a 255/30 since it rubs slightly on sharp turns. On to the pictures…

Check out the Hartmann QS-10 in our online catalog for pricing and details!
