Audi Club NW Presents Geschwindigkeit 2010 at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA

Written by Todd on June 14, 2010 – 3:20 pm -

Day2_048

We here at Achtuning are pleased to announce our support for the Audi Club Northwest for Geschwindigkeit 2010 at Pacific Raceways on Friday, July 16th!

Registration is now open!

This is a new event for at Pacific Raceways.  For those of you who haven’t been able to join the Audi Club Northwest for events at Portland International Raceway or Bremerton Motorsports Park, this is a great opportunity to experience an Audi Club event at a world class facility within a short drive from the Seattle area.

With nearly 5 decades of history and located only 34 miles from downtown Seattle, the Pacific Raceways Road Course is a world-class, SCCA and NASCAR certified, 10-turn (9 turns with a “kink” in the main straightaway), 2.25-mile course.  The 170mph front straight is at an elevation of 150 feet above sea level.  There is a total elevation change of 125 feet, of which 100 feet occurs in 1/2 mile, between turn 2 and turn 3B.  Winding through natural wooded terrain, sweeping curves and hairpin turns make Pacific Raceways one of the most unique and challenging courses in the United States.

The one day price of $235 includes lunch and plenty of track time.  We will be limiting this event to 60 participants, so we can provide as much track time as possible.

ACNA membership is required for this event.  If you are not a club member yet, and you own an Audi, please contact the NW chapter registrar through the above registration link for new membership options.  Anyone may join ACNA or renew an existing membership as part of your registration on the following event sign-up pages.

All attendees must be at least 18 years of age.

This event does NOT have a Driver’s Education exercises component.  It is for drivers who have attended at least one ACNW high speed lapping event or equivalent from another club or driver’s school.  Please indicate your driver skill level as part of the registration process online.

Instructors will be available for those who are not signed off to solo, or anyone wanting a coach.  One of the objectives of this event is to practice and refine the experience you gained from attending previous track events with Audi Club Northwest or other car club events.

If you have questions, email the event master, Seth Varty though the registration link above.

Check back here soon for upcoming specials to help make sure you have the right performance products to help make the most of your day at Geschwindigkeit 2010!

We hope to see you out there!

APR Motorsports: Mk6 GTI Complete!

Written by Dion on April 2, 2010 – 2:41 pm -

APR Motorsport Signs Australian Tom Drewer and Announces the Return of Stephen Hooks to Grand Am to Drive New MK6 VW GTi in its International Racing Debut at Barber Motorsports Park

APR Motorsport MK6 GTI

APR Motorsport presents Australian racing star Tom Drewer and the return of Stephen Hooks to Grand Am to drive in the historic international racing debut of the VW DriverGear MK6 Volkswagen GTi.

Drewer and Hooks will drive in Round 3 of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, a 2 hour 30 minute endurance race, at Barber Motorsports Park, Alabama (April 8-10).

APR Motorsport returns to Barber, the team’s home track, after last year’s win in the #171 MK5 GTi driven by Ian Baas and MESCO Rookie of the Year Josh Hurley. Ian has moved up in class to pilot APR Motorsport’s Audi S4 in Grand Sport for the 2010 season. Josh Hurley returns with new co-driver Kevin Stadtlander, now in the VW DriverGear #181 MK5 GTi, to fight for the win alongside teammates Tom Drewer and Stephen Hooks in the new MK6 GTi and Mike Sweeney and Mike Halpin who return in last year’s winning #171 GTi.

After a nearly 10 year hiatus from professional racing, Stephen Hooks, President and CEO of APR, LLC, returns to Grand Am for the unveiling of the new GTi. Stephen last appeared in 2001 in a now 3 generations old Audi S4 which he drove in the Grand Am Cup, the predecessor to the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. When asked about why he has been missing in action for so long, Stephen replied, “The last 10 years have been a time in my life where I have focused heavily on the restructuring and further development of APR, LLC. We have seen our staff grow tremendously, we’ve built a brand new purpose built engineering facility, rapidly expanded our road going car product line, increased our distribution to over 40 countries and 250 retailers and most recently, began 2 new race teams. I’ve never lost my passion for driving and I am thankful for the opportunity to return with more resources, more talent and more support.” Stephen has participated in several tests the last couple of years with APR Motorsport and is a primary provider of feedback to the technical staff regarding the cars’ performance. Stephen’s typical race day activities include team strategy however, the upcoming event at Barber finds him behind the wheel with a perfect opportunity to for a good showing with co-driver Tom Drewer. The entire APR Motorsport Team is excited for Stephen as it’s obvious from his testing laps he’s never lost his edge.

“I feel very honored to be given the responsibility of the world racing debut of the new MK6 Volkswagen GTi along with Stephen,” Tom Drewer said.

The race will also be Drewer’s first in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge and his first for the Alabama based APR Motorsport, the competition arm of the highly regarded aftermarket performance product company APR. “You could say I’ve been thrown into the deep end- there are many firsts this weekend. It will be the first race for the new VW MK6 GTi, my first time with APR, my first race at Barber, and my first weekend in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. Hopefully we can add another first to the list by the end of the weekend.”

But while a rookie to the series, Tom has no shortage of experience behind the wheel, or that of a Volkswagen. Prior to heading to North America Drewer sampled the high horsepower of the Australian Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series while also competing in light-weight high down-force prototypes as the factory driver for West Race Cars Australia.

2010 Port Townsend Cruise a BIG success!

Written by Dion on March 8, 2010 – 4:03 pm -

A little over 450 cars were counted at Griot’s Garage just before 10am Sunday morning with more lined up waiting to park.   A few hours later, well over 400 cars were parked inside Port Townsend’s Memorial Field.   It was a tremendous turn-out and we could not be happier with the results.
Thank you all for coming together and contributing over 1600 lbs. of food and $200 cash for Northwest Harvest!  Glad to hear many of you had fun and we look forward to continuing this event in the future!

Last Day to Register for Quattrofest 2009!!!

Written by Todd on November 2, 2009 – 11:43 am -

presented by
ACNW

*** Deadline for registration is tonight, November 2nd at midnight!  Register online at MotorSportReg.com.

It’s that time of year again and the ACNW is hosting this years annual Quattrofest High Performance Driving Event at Portland International Raceway on November 7th and 8th.

We are pleased to announce our involvement by offering discounted ACNA memberships at time of registration.  We are also offering a set of Hartmann wheels to be auctioned off at the event’s banquet held on Saturday evening, with the proceeds benefiting the Northwest chapter of the Audi Club.

This is the most enjoyable way to increase both the performance of your car and your own safety while driving.  Quattrofest is 2 days and 2 nights of intensive instruction coupled with hands on activities, all within the controlled environment of one of the best facilities in motor sports.

Have you been driving cars all your life and think you have learned everything?  The ACNW instructors can show you how most things you have learned can be improved upon and in all likelihood you WILL learn new things that can make you a safer driver.

Want to know how to control your vehicle when things go wrong?  They can teach you the skills that might just get you out of what you thought was an impossible situation.

Have you spent big money on mods for your car? Now you can learn how to really make the most important component of your car better. You might be surprised that the least expensive mod also happens to be the one that improves your car’s performance the most.

Do you want to know the best part of all?IT IS A BLAST! That’s right, this school is all about fun AND learning. We challenge you to leave the event without a perma-smile plastered to your face. You will remember this every time you turn the key.

Longest Parade of Audis attempted

Written by Dion on August 12, 2009 – 10:09 am -

A couple of weekends ago, local Audi club NWQuattro and Griot’s Garage attempted to organize the longest parade of Audi vehicles in an attempt to break a Guinness Book of World Record. While no record was broken that weekend, it’s not often you get to see as many Audis in one parking lot and participants had a lot of fun. No official count was provided but we hear it was over 100 cars.

Griot’s Garage graciously invited us to set-up shop in their parking lot and we are thankful they allowed us to participate!  Also thanks to Brian for sharing pictures of our set-up with us.

WaterWërks 2009 a success!

Written by Dion on July 22, 2009 – 12:46 pm -

WaterWërks 2009 was a blast! As one of the major sponsors of this year’s event held at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, we had a very successful show. Achtuning tee-shirts and folding chairs were a hit and we had several people take advantage of show pricing on H&R spacers and coil-overs, APR software and Motor Sport products, and Hartmann Wheels.

We’re now settled back in our offices and shipping out orders received over the weekend. Stay tuned for yet another event in the near horizon where you can expect us to set up shop and offer some additional deals to enhance the performance of your VW or Audi.

A big “thank you!” goes out to the staff of WaterWërks 2009.
