What does “Achtuning” mean?
Our name is derived from the German word “ACHTUNG”, which translates to attention or respect in English. Combine “Achtung” with the word “Tuning” and you have Achtuning… pronounced ‘Ock-tuning’. If you own a german car, take a look inside your engine compartment sometime; you’ll find “Achtung!” all over the engine bay!
Achtuning was founded in 2001 by Joshua Decker. It all started with a shift knob that Joshua began to import from Germany to sell online. Soon after, Josh had sold over 600 units and found himself importing everything from turbos to full RS4 body kits. This hobby turned into a full-time passion and Achtuning was born. Josh’s background in german cars goes all the way back to driving his first VW, a 1986 VW Jetta GLI. Since then he has owned 7 VWs and now drives a 2000 Audi S4. Not wanting Achtuning to be just another mail order/internet parts reseller, we were dedicated to opening a fully-capable tuning shop, and we did just that!
We have a retail storefront, showroom and fully equipped installation & tuning shop located in Redmond, WA. Because of our brick and mortar facilities we have been able to establish ourselves as distributors for many top brands, including APR, Neuspeed, Stoptech, Status Racing, Stasis, H&R and many others!! In addition to Audis and VWs, Achtuning also serves Porsche, BMW and Mercedes. We are fast becoming a tuning leader in the Pacific NW!
January 9, 2006 – Hartmann Wheels of Redmond, WA has purchased the brand name and associated website of Redmond, WA based Achtuning LLC.
Hartmann Wheels is excited to add this successful grouping to their specialty boutique of aftermarket products for Audis and other European cars. Customers familiar with Achtuning have come to rely on Achtuning.com for access to the top performance brands. Operating since 2002, Achtuning has become one of the most recognizable brands in Audi tuning. Bill Spencer of Hartmann Wheels, in business since 1980, is excited to offer the quality products found at Achtuning.com with the quality service that Hartmann Wheels is known for. Spencer says, “Achtuning did a great job establishing their brand within the marketplace however they never had the resources to really achieve their potential. With their name and our resources and solid customer service reputation, we know that we will be able to see Achtuning.com achieve its true potential.” The acquisition of Achtuning’s well-established website (http://www.achtuning.com) will allow customers even greater access to Hartmann wheels. They hope to make Achtuning.com the premier website for all of your European performance needs.
Achtuning’s founder, Joshua Decker, has decided to leave the tuning shop business to focus his efforts on his successful aftermarket racing seat company, Status Racing Inc. (www.statusracing.com) Regarding this transition, Decker says “This is a great opportunity for everyone involved. Hartmann Wheels has the resources and solid customer service reputation needed to see the Achtuning brand achieve it’s potential. I’m sad to leave but I’m excited to know that the name I created will live on and hopefully become the success I always imaged it could be.”
